2007 Wii first party line-up officially announced

Wii News | All the big guns this year - at least in Japan.
More and more info is coming from translations of the Nintendo press conference held a few days ago, where Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced that the company has 45 Wii games in the pipeline. And now, some officially released financial documents, translated by IGN, have revealed the 2007 Japanese release plans for the company. While many games are still listed as TBA (such as Animal Crossing Wii), Nintendo seems confident enough to at least stick a year next to the following games, which have now been officially dated 2007:

  • Donkey Kong Taru Jet Race (Paon) - June 28, 2007
  • Wii Health Pack (EAD) - 2007
  • Disaster: Day of Crisis ( Monolith) - 2007
  • Mario Party 8 (Hudson Soft) - 2007
  • Project H.A.M.M.E.R. (NST) - 2007
  • Wii Music (EAD) - 2007
  • Super Mario Galaxy (EAD) - 2007
  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Smash Recruit) - 2007
  • Battalion Wars II (Kuju) - 2007
  • Forever Blue (Akira) - 2007
  • Mario Strikers Charged (Next Level) - 2007
  • Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Retro Studios) - 2007
  • Mario and Sonic at the Olympics (SEGA) - 2007
So it seems the big three (Mario, Metroid, Smash Bros.) are still on track for a release this year, at least in Japan. We'll have to wait for confirmation for PAL releases, but it seems likely the larger games at least will be ready in time for Christmas.

I'm interested in Wii Music. It better not be something like those lame MTV Music Mix games on Ps2. Also where's the Harvest Moon Wii love? Isn't that out next month in Japan?

If by the end of the year I can be playing at all 4 of Brawl, Galaxy, Prime 3 and Paper Mario all of the huge delays and all of this 'buyer's Wiimorse' stuff will disappear completely.

They all better be 2007 PAL titles Nintendo, or I will flip.

Thats a huge lineup.....if this is the lineup for end of 2007 I'd love to see whats in line for 2008. Id be happy if 1/3 of those titles hit PAL regions by end of the year, not to mention super paper mario

this is the first news of project hammer ive heard since it was on the wii website before launch

^ Same with Day of Disaster. I'm interested to see how they turn out. Quite an impressive lineup, let's hope their PAL conversion isn't as gimped as that of Super Paper Mario.

What's the deal about the Super Paper Mario PAL conversion?

"Mario and Sonic at the Olympics"

Yep:

I'm buying it just for the history. Hopefully later they can make a Mario and Sonic game with a better premise.

Wii Health Pack sounds interesting. Hopefully it will add something different to what we've seen with Wii Sports and Wii Play.

That didnt really tell you anything new from E3, I am indeed very excited that Disaster and H.A.M.M.E.R are making it this year icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif I expected the others this year but not those two

This is going to be a very expensive year

Still can't decide if I should keep my Wii, this line-up looks good but I'm so sceptical. Three major titles to be released within 6 months? This was promised and never happened on GC but are they really gonna do it this time?

These are just the first party games. If you add in third party titles, the list would be much longer.

Nintendo have never been reliable on release dates especially in PAL territories. Japan and America for sure its their biggest markets.

If you have owned a Nintendo console before than you SHOULD have known this was going to happen. Alternatively import a Wii and don't get frustrated.

If anyone believes on this forum that Nintendo will release any of the biggies in 2007 in Australia than put your hand up because when 1 Jan kicks over I can refer back to this thread.

They haven't been too bad on the Wii. I'm ambivalent about whether or not they'll meet it.

^ Dude, Super Paper Mario is the prime example that nothing has changed. It doesn't even have a release date afaik.

I can't decide whether to defend Nintendo Australia or not. I do think they cop a lot of flack that is unwarranted (most 1st party releases have come out fairly close to the US release dates in the past few years, and the DS games are almost always out here before Europe), but then they go and pull something incredibly stupid like, oh, I dunno, not even giving a release date for the Wii's second major title.

I never really defend Nintendo Australia unless its the fault of higher up.

NoJ always are sometimes vauge on details and stuff, but they had no problems pushing Twilight Princess back as they never really gave a release date in the first place.

Nintendo don't seem to be deadline orientated which I think is a good thing but some rough estimates etc could be nice.

But a title that is out in NTSC reigions already, they should at least tell us when we are going to get it
