Virtual console updated

Wii News | Final Fight, Mighty Bomb Jack and a landmark release for Europe.
Nintendo updated the Virtual Console service today with two new games for Australia, as well as a very important TurboGrafx release for Europe.

First up, the SNES version of Final Fight is available for the regular 800 points. Along with the classic Capcom beat 'em up, comes the classic NES platformer Mighty Bomb Jack for 500 points.

Europe (and region switching Australians) also receive the TurboGrafx action puzzler Battle Lode Runner for 600 points. While it's a great 5-player version of the classic game, it's a landmark release for one simple reason - it was never released outside Japan on the original hardware. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come, and more previously overseas-only games will be released on the service in the future.

Final Fight was a sweet game, will be a good addition to the lineup.

I don't remember though, did the game have a save function? I'm leaning towards no, which will stop it being a buy from me. Can anyone confirm this?

yeah but it only had two characters - and no co-op - thats criminal if you ask me!

It was almost good enough to buy a SNES for - but those two things ruined it for me.

No save function, but the Wii's interrupt feature is a pseudo-save function.

I seriously don't like the idea of buying NES/SNES/Megadrive arcade ports. I would prefer a straight port of Final Fight from the arcade. Yeah yeah, I know it's not what the Wii is offering and they would need to create emulation for the CP2 boards etc, but I will never buy a console port of a game when it's inferior.

I think the Mega CD version had co-op

I remeber playing Lode Runner on old Apple Macs is primary school, is Battle Lode Runner anything like that? If it is, that's a guaranted purchase for me.
