Guitar Hero III to use Guitar Controller on Wii

Wii News | Oh yeah, the game's now officially confirmed too.
After the spectacular success of Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II, it's nobody's surprise that RedOctane has officially confirmed in an interview with IGN that Guitar Hero III is on its way to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and the Wii.

RedOctane's co-founder and president Kai Huang has confirmed the Wii version of Guitar Hero III will utilise a special guitar peripheral and will feature online elements, such as support for online play and downloadable music. Huang told IGN "We are really excited about the Wii game because there are so many options for the Wii remote. However, you will play the game with a guitar peripheral and it will be similar to a guitar you've seen in the past."

Another reason for me to get a Wii icon_biggrin.gif . Hopefully the peripheral for the guitar won't be too expensive either as well as the downloadable content.

No surprise here i see. Now all we need is a confirmed released date.

What's really cool is the downloadable content, hopefully we will be able to get new songs whilst not wasting lots of quota. Or has this already happened with the 360?

Great news, a game I am willing to fork out the money for on release so far!

There are so many options, yet they're using none?? icon_confused.gif

I've never really been interested in this game. Only played the PS2 version once, but now if I can play with a Wii-tar I just might pick it up. icon_razz.gif

At least it's Guitar Hero III, with a completely new playlist, instead of three or so new ones on a re-release.

Our Wii-tar better work or else *shakes fist*

I'm hoping for a Buckethead Inspired Les Paul guitar, with a Killswitch as an option to strum during the hard solos. icon_razz.gif

I do wonder if the 360 or PS3 versions will have extras over each other. Whatever one does gets my vote (possibly PS3 because of past successes?).

Wii version needs motion sensor capabilities so it can register us smashing the guitar on the ground, rock star style. I would hit it.

it'll be good if you can tilt the wii one upwards like in arcades.

what would be cool is if a second player could use the wiimotes as drumsticks and drum along

That's why Harmonix is releasing 'Rock Band'.

Wow! The whole downloadable content thing sure sounds mighy appealing! Up until now, I was going to stick with the PS2 version seeing as I have the first two on it (got a secondhand PS2 for 27 bucks just for the GH games after playing GH II - so worth it!). Ditto on Nintendo actually doing something with online content. The 360 version just gets overpriced 'bundles' of rehashed sh*t from the original Guitar Hero. So much for exclusivity!

You hear me Nintendo? I want bang for our buck with GH III on Wii! Ive already forked out for an extra Shredder Guitar on PS2 and will repeat the move if your downloadable stuff is WORTH IT! Dont pull a Microsh*t on us.

I'll probably get this.

I have no desire for downloadable content, especially with the way they're pricing them.

I hope they just make the guitar controller a shell that the Wiimote plugs into. That way it can use the Wiimote's blutetooth and hopefully lower the price of the game overall.

In that case I think I might shelf plans to pick up Guitar Hero for my PS2. Hopefully the Wii version will be cheaper. They better have tracks from the first two available to download. I want to rock out to Trogdor.

....

SD Cards?

Seriously, the Wii has plenty of space - 512mb of it.

Song Layer Files that is 256kbits Quality: ~9mb
Song Note list: 32kb

There's enough, but SD Cards would be handy.

Well GH had 30 standard songs + 17 bonus songs and GH2 had 40 songs with 26 bonus songs.

That's a pretty big chunk of your Wii memory. And I can't imagine them letting you save to SD memory as this would make copying easier IMO.
