Super Mario World on the Virtual Console

Wii News | Zelda II as well.
Nintendo has updated the Australian Virtual Console today with two new titles: Super Mario World and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.

Super Mario World was originally released on the Super Nintendo, while a Game Boy Advance version followed in later years. It's now available for 800 points.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link was originally released on the NES, and can be purchased for a respectable 500 points. Australia's Virtual Console is generally pretty similar to the UK Virtual Console, so UK gamers should get these two titles tonight.

Im a big fan of Zelda II - im really surprised by the negative responses from zelda fans. If people just assessed the product for what it is - a platformer/castlevania style game, they would really see how deep it was and how much of a challenge it was to beat the game.

Its probably the best purchase on the NES virtual console for the time being.

Super Mario World is also one of my favourite games of all time.

There were too many good 2D platform style games out there to have room for a bad one like Zelda II

Super Mario World on the other hand I have a different criticism for, Its about bloody time!

P.S, when are places going to actually start selling Points Cards anytime soon?

I have seen points cards around, I have gone through three of them so far and hope to get more in the future.

I wouldnt mind getting both of these games. I have never played zelda 2 but I used to love mario world. So much replayability in one little game!!!

They seem to be running off the initial shipment of points cards, everywhere I've been have been sold out of them. It's pretty poor. I mean, it's a piece of carboard - how hard can it possibly be to manufacture?

Speaking of pretty poor, three weeks after america gets it and we still don't have Link to the Past? icon_sad.gif

Big ups for Super Mario World, though. Very worthwhile purchase right there. Can't wait for the inevitable Yoshi's Island. icon_biggrin.gif

Zelda went back to an overhead prespective for a reason, lets just leave it at that

Too. Much. Money.

Nintendo should release a compilation game (DVD format that is) similar to what Sega did with its Mega-Drive Collection.

I think its great that Zelda II: The Adventure of Link did come out today. It is the second game released in one of the best franchises in the world. I'm glad it came out before The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past since they are most likely releasing in a sequential order of initial release. Soon will be The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and everyone should know what comes next......................
THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIME

It is a pity that Gameboy titles arn't on the VC list, my fave Zelda game of all time was Link's Awakening

too true, is there a sufficient reason why they arent doing that (releasing handheld titles for the VC)? or is that a possible feature to DS that they are planning?

I think that Zelda 2 is a great game but I have it on a Bonus Zelda disc on the GCN so won't be picking it up. Like arbok I don't think that the negative responses for the game are justified. I think it is a good game but it is rather difficult. I think that if we didn't see Zelda 2 then all of the platforming bits from other Zelda games wouldn't have existed. So it has made a good contribution to the series.

I probably won't be getting uper Mario World either. I have played it through countless times and it is truly a gem.

But the real question is:

"Where is Super Mario Kart"?

You bring up an excellent point, maybe a future add on to vc could be downloadable gamecube games that wirelessly play gb and gba games. that would be awesome.

I wouldn't think so, like sure its not as popular as it used to be (GB in particular), i think it deserves some new players
*crosses fingers & toes for such a possible feature*

I ask the same thing, but i also ask is it out elsewhere yet? or even scheduled?
(sorry been out of the 'gaming loop' for the last week; started back at Tafe, no free time)

*Jump back on the topic train*
I already own Super Mario World on SNES, but never played Zelda 2 b4, i'll probably end up purchasing it, when i get some more money to splurge icon_razz.gif
