Mario Kart 64 on Australian Virtual Console

Wii News | Nintendo celebrates January 26th in style.
It may be Australia Day today but it appears that somebody at Nintendo isn’t taking a break, since the Virtual Console has been updated with Mario Kart 64 now available for download via the Wii shop channel.

The game is the second Nintendo 64 title up for the Virtual Console and joins Super Mario 64. The title will set you back 1000 points and was originally one of the first Nintendo 64 titles available. The game features support for four players; if you’re wondering it’s just as fun now as it was more than a decade ago. Australia is the second region to get the game after Japan, it is expected that Mario Kart 64 will be available on the UK Virtual Console service later this evening.

Now I'll have to buy that wireless access point! I was holding out for MK64, I have very fond memories of that game, and this will make up for me never having a N64 back in the day (went straight from SNES to PS2).

Mario Kart 64 - who does not already own this? If someone really does not have it, I could scratch up a few spares for $5. How much are they charging for an emulator and downloadable ROM? I imagine its only $2 but even so its not like playing the real thing icon_smile.gif

^ It's $15, and it's pretty much a perfect emulated experience. It's quite strange playing it on a big widescreen TV though!

Oh, and you don't have to blow on the cart to get it to work icon_razz.gif

Not perfect, you can't save any ghost data due to 'technical issues' (bs).
