New Super Smash Bros. Brawl screens

Wii News | Get a good look at some of the new backgrounds inside.
The original Super Smash Bros. was a late-Nintendo 64 hit (very late in PAL regions), and its early GameCube sequel Super Smash Bros. Melee was the highest-selling game on Nintendo's fourth home console. And so it was only natural that HAL's original fighting series would see an upgrade early into the life of the Kyoto giant's next machine, the Wii. Many fans have waited patiently these five years for a fresh opportunity to belt Pikachu around with various other Nintendo characters, and due to the Wii's market positioning, they'll have to wait a little longer. Because of Nintendo's emphasis at launch on the introduction of the all-swinging, all-pointing Wii remote, the Wii installment of The Smash is taking a temporary back seat to the likes of Wii Sports and Zelda.

Delayed from the Wii launch to integrate its revolutionary 'classic' control method, Super Smash Bros. Brawl features a smattering of new characters and seems to use the Wii's additional grunt to allow a substantial visual upgrade from its elderly brethren. While we've seen evidence of this previously, we've gotten our hands on seven fresh new screens courtesy of the game's official page, the Smash Bros. Dojo. While there are less revealing shots of sans-armour Samus Aran in this batch, they're worth a look just to see Mario fighting Wario near Yoshi's Island. Hopefully some more characters and details will be revealed once the Wii launch hype starts to die down, perhaps some time after the machine actually launches in Japan and PAL territories.

There's also a new video of gameplay footage on the site, but it currently appears to be down. Check out the new screens in the Media Panel, and as usual, we'll keep you informed if anything crops up!

Do you think SSBB will also have naked snake on it?
or at least a secret costume where snake has an eye patch.

Oh dog please don put Raiden on SSNN.
Huh?...

Screens look nice, and can't wait to get my hands on this game, although Online does have me worried with the possibilities of lag.

I don't think you read what I bolded, and I also haven't played a Metal Gear game, though I am sure spoilers would flow in through one ear and out the other.
