Wii launches in US

Wii News | Nintendo's latest to make worldwide debut today.
In just a few hours time, our cousins across the pond will be able to pick up Nintendo's new Wii console, and hopefully without getting shot/mugged/stabbed/held up at gunpoint in the process. Over in the US, the launch of Ninty's new machine trails that of the PlayStation 3 by two days, though Nintendo will be shipping a significantly higher number of Wii units than Sony could manage for the PS3. Here's hoping the wider availability of Wii will restore some sanity to the process of buying a console.

As for little old Australia and Europe, our own Wii launches are closing in fast, with the unique console set to launch on 7th December and 8th December respectively.

I been reading the U.S Wii Instruction Manual all morning

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/downloads/WiiOpMn_setup.pdf

Im reading it now, so I don't have to on Dec 7th

I turns out the Nintendo WiFi USB connector can be used with Wii with no upgrades needed at all to software, which is cool for people who use it with their DS's

Ships where? icon_confused.gif Having the Wii being released today in the U.S, coupled with playing the Wii quite a lot at eGames, has only increased my enthusiasm! icon_smile.gif I think the Wii is going to give the X360 serious competition.

Why did they launched at US first and not Japan?

There's a lot more consumers in the U.S. That market is where they really need to sell their console, the Japanese will be all over it. Japan still gets the Wii before us anyway.

But still Japan+Videogames=Nintendo not USA+Videogames=A Cheap Compnay (maybe not Bungie)

Thats what I hate, we're always last for anything or get nothing at all. Well I'm not so sure about Japan, I expect people like me to wait and see the really great games before buying.

Erm - we're getting the Wii one day before Europe, and got the DS lite a few weeks before America.. Australia's one quite well recently.

I just find it alittle unfair that US gets two launches first, while the rest seem to get them last, pricing isnt great either.

The US got it first because of Thanksgiving. Nintendo knew that releasing it after Turkey Day would be suicide. Also, they knew that they'd have to fight Sony in the US, whereas in Japan there weren't going to be many units.
