Wii Channels put back to December/January

Wii News | Wii News and Forecast Channel both slip.
Nintendo has confirmed that the Wii will make its retail debut in the coming weeks missing two of the Channels that were initially expected to be available at launch. Alas, we'll now have to wait until 20th December before the Forecast Channel (which is to supply local and international weather reports using a fancy 3D globe) becomes functional, and it'll be 27th January by the time Wii News - a source of news (amazingly enough) supplied by the Associated Press - is accessible. Perhaps not a massive dent in the old launch plans, though a setback nonetheless.

In other NEWS (ha!), we've got some more screens of the Wii Channels in action, courtesy of the ever-excellent Kotaku. Click here, dear readers.

This is a huge dissapointment- at the retailer evenings a few weeks back, the Nintendo Aus Pres spent more time talking about the channels to us than anything else. "This is what will entice the non-gamer to pick up a Wiimote," he said. Pity it won't actually, you know, exist then.

Deffinatly dissapointing yes, but I don't think Nintendo are expecting most of the casual gamers to pick up the Wii straight away, more so the hardcore fans.

Apparently still available day one.

Eh. News and Weather are the two things I'm least likely to clean from a console.

^^^ My sentiments exactly.

I don't even check the news and weather on my phone or, for that matter, on the television; why would I do it at home?
