THQ predicting strong sales for Wii

Wii News | Being cautious towards Sony though.
Speaking at a conference call following the release of his company's Q2 results, THQ CEO Brian Farrell commented that he predicts the Wii would likely, "reach a multi-million installed base quickly," and added that THQ has plans to "launch an increased number of Wii SKUs in fiscal 2008".

Other executive speakers in the call also commented they believed the Wii would be "a great opportunity" to produce exclusive titles for, taking into account the "matter of economics."

Despite the Wii not being released for half a month (in America that is), publishers and developers are continuously giving the console praise and with Nintendo itself expecting strong sales, things couldn't look better for them. However, THQ also had some interesting comments to say concerning Sony's PlayStation 3.

"We've chosen to release our titles on PS3 as its installed base grows in calendar 2007," Farrell stated.

Other THQ executives observed that "download opportunities" wouldn't "kick in until the second half of 2007" and that "Sony is continuing to refine their online and download models". One executive even predicted Sony's download revenues wouldn't be a "meaningful opportunity" until "mid next year."

My exact question...
Im suprised that THQ are getting behind the Wii, even before launch, considering they are still working with the PS3

Does that mean the Technical superior PS3 will see poorly ported Wii games.

Well the PS2 is set to recieve a port of the Wii version of Raving Rabbids... So it is possable...

I think Farrell was trying to say that THQ won't be releasing/developing as many titles when the PS3 has little market. Obviously, this means they are concerned they won't make a large return in revenue *cough* due to cr@p games *cough.*
