Simple, you won't be downloading gigs worth of movies and demos.

Now I think, i could be wrong on this, but I believe the largest N64 cartridges were 512Mb (or 64MB). So the Wii's internal memory would allow 8 N64 games. A 2GB card offers room for another 32 more.
Technically you would, if you're downloading demos for wii. Average demo must be like 400-600mb.
That's assuming there are Wii demos. We don't know that for sure.

I know, I did exaggerate a little I'll admit, but if you're an enthusiast gamer who wants the best possible image quality with high res, then upgrading your video card relatively often is pretty neseccary, and will cost you alot of money. Plus as of late, technology has been moving ridiculously fast, especially with the GPU's. I mean, look at the 7900GTX. My uncle bought it and it runs games fine, but then next year we're going to have games like Crysis which can't get the best quality due to DX10, and the 7000 series doesn't support DX10 at all. That's what kind of s**ts me about computers, and why I stick heavily to consoles.
Using the same example as you, you won't be able to have Crysis looking as good on a console either. I believe Crytek even said something to that effect themselves.

I suspect Crysis is being built from the ground up with Direct X 10 in mind.

Realistically a lot more than 8. IIRC, only 2 N64 games were 64MB in size: Conker's and RE2.

Well yeah, but I'm just going by maximums here to cover bases. Even 8 is a fair amount, expecially if you're thinking of getting them all at once.

And I'm 99% sure you can delete the games and then download them again at no extra cost.

I thought there was confirmation of this, I definatly know wii will be able to send demos to DS. But looking live or ps3 network thing, it looks likely.

I can confirm that. The Nintendo rep at the Wii event let us know that once you pay, you don't pay again and can download as many times.

That is great to know! Kudos to Nintendo for not being pricks and making you pay each time.

Can you also upload those VC games to a memory card to take over to mates places?

^I know that with PS3 if you log into your own profile on another persons console, you can play those games free and such, but when you go back to your own console and log in that person loses the ability to play them. I would think it'd be the same system with Wii. I'm not sure about it though.

The only Wii game that remotely interests me so far is Zelda.

And since I have reasonably good eyesight, the component cables are a must-have.

So so far, I'm looking at $400 + $100 + $50. Which is $550. $50 shy of what the 360 costs at the moment. I could never justify that kind of expenditure for a game I'd only really consider buying for a system I already owned, and certainly not for $100.

As for the component cables... That's the single most ludicrous case of profiteering I've ever seen... well, aside from Monster Cables. The component cables for my DVD player are great, and only cost me $15. Of course there's no reason the Wii couldn't just have a standard component connection. Gouging aside.

On a side note, do we even know if PAL Wii games support progressive scan? Since we kinda got the short end of the stick when it came to the GameCube.
