Sega Mega Drive games will be available for 800 Wii points. Wii points required for titles available in 2007 may vary. Wii Points Cards will be available to buy in retail stores and are estimated to retail at around $30.00 for 2000 Wii Points.

$70?! What a rip off! Even PS2 controllers wouldn't cost that much!!

Man, that's expensive. Looks like it'll be two player for me.

Hrmm... those VC prices are a little steeper than I'd have hoped for, considering you're only getting an electronic copy of the game. For similar (or less) prices you can find original copies, with box and manual.
Luckily I'm a consumer whore and will likely buy a bunch of 'em anyway...

The price isn't surprising when you look at the xbox live arcade games. They seem to have a very simialar pricing structure. Also having a virtual console is great for lazy people like myself, no need to get out of the chair to change games icon_razz.gif

The price of the control doesn't come at any surprise to me. Wasn't the original "FAT" Xbox control $80 at launch ?
Yeah I think it was about $80 at launch for the 'duke' xbox control.

The VC games sound reasonably priced, but the Nes games should be cheaper especially pinball etc.Mario games would be another story.
Games should be priced on their size though imo.

Megadrive games sound like a deal for $15.I mean to buy gunstar heroes for that price ...good luck!
And not many people at all would normally be able to play those games anyway without this service.

Very shcmick.

Weren't Wavebirds $50? Anyway, saying PS2 controllers weren't that much is ridiculous as PS2 controllers don't have 1/10th the technology that the Wii remotes have.
Nah wavebirds were like $70, and standard controllers were $50.I think $70 is fairly reasonable for the mote, i think 360 controllers already being that much have made $70 the new 'standard' for controller prices.
RRP of $70 seems a reasonable price for a wireless control, but when you add in all that motion sensing and IR stuff then $70 is a good price for it. It's just when you add in the Nunchuk and you're looking at $100 per extra control that it seems really steep.

exactly spanca! the remote is only half a controller!

Component cables, Woo Hoo, EB GAMES better have em on launch!!!

Still very unhappy about having to pay 50 bucks for component cables, considering the 360 bundled them in for free.

I guess you gotta look at Nintendo's perspective, more money or less money! Tough choice.

I can get ps2 component cables for $9 on eBay, and 360 supplies them free. I'm sure as hell not going to pay $30+ for some cables.

Bahaha, there is no way in hell I'm going to pay that amount for games of yesteryear, especially non-physical copies. Every piece of news Nintendo have brought out regarding Australian pricing detals have been higher than I anticipated and what I'm willing to pay. Sorry Kidtendo, I didn't pay 400 for a PAL cube and I'm not gonna pay it for a Wii.

Couple this with the less than entrhalling xbox360 lineup and the high cost of the delayed PS3, buying a new PC seems even more the more compelling option.

Changing graphics and adding more rams add up to what? A GPU equivlant to 360 is alone the price of the unit.

I'd rather buy a PS3 with a controller and 3 games than pay $800+ on one graphics card which supports new shaders which add minor details like a tree with a shadow or something. And then 6 months later your graphics card is obsolete and Oh whoops, you need a new one to run the latest games at a resolution that's bearable, whilst a PS3 can run its games at 720p and 1080p on the go without a problem. Ps3 for me please. Saves a hell of a lot of money.

Unfortunately, I am not Nintendo. I am a consumer. From a consumer's point of view, it's a s**t deal.

Guess sarcasm didnt work. Yup its ****, but 3rd party are another option, quality and pricing is questionable there.

You don't have to replace a graphics card in 6 months, if you got the top of the line DX 10 compatible card (which will be about 1000, less if you import) it would last you a few years, provided you have a halfway decent CPU, etc.

In fact a grand on upgrading a PC would get you something that would last at least one and a half years with exceptional visual quality with a slow descent in quality after that until you'd likely have to replace it in 3 years.

Hypothetically, how much would a mint copy (yes, including instructions. Which is very rare for megadrive games) be worth? >_>

Not that I would ever sell, but it would be nice to know just how much I could get for it since I paid $5 for it icon_razz.gif

I know, I did exaggerate a little I'll admit, but if you're an enthusiast gamer who wants the best possible image quality with high res, then upgrading your video card relatively often is pretty neseccary, and will cost you alot of money. Plus as of late, technology has been moving ridiculously fast, especially with the GPU's. I mean, look at the 7900GTX. My uncle bought it and it runs games fine, but then next year we're going to have games like Crysis which can't get the best quality due to DX10, and the 7000 series doesn't support DX10 at all. That's what kind of s**ts me about computers, and why I stick heavily to consoles.

However, enthusiast gaming aside, I do agree with most of what you've said. I myself would upgrade but I just don't have the money to invest so much into my computer. My 9800 Pro is getting awfully old though..
