Twilight Princess impressions creep in

Wii News | As well as three new screens of Link's latest adventure.
The Nintendo Wii is less then three weeks away, and some lucky industry punters have already started to get their hands on a real Wii and the final build of the most anticipated title for the system (for established gamers, that is), The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Despite an apparent embargo on game info, Japanese publications Game Watch and Famitsu have posted their first impressions of the titles on their websites. And it seems they like what they have played.

We've used a web translator to check what the sites have said, and have paraphrased a few highlights in (slightly) less broken English:

Game Watch
  • "You really feel like you are in Link's Body"
  • "when shooting [an arrow], you hold the B button and a pointer appears on the screen. You can also lock on, so that you can move link around with the nun-chuck and move while shooting. It seems complicated in writing, but is very intuitive when you actually play it."
  • "The Graphics and sound are fantastic, and very atmospheric. There is a feeling of maturity, but it still feels like part of the Zelda series"
Famitsu
  • "The new controller really makes you feel like you are part of the game"
(exact quote: "Because of that, the former controller compared to one bodily sensation of the character raises markedly!")
  • "The running is fast! When playing as Link for the first time, you realize he can move a lot faster then is past Zelda games. This is good, because the game world is so large!"
  • "The fishing works well, and you really get the feeling of actually fishing"
  • "Sword attacks are not button operated, but you use motions of the Wii remote. Some may be concerned that you will get tired, but it's not a problem, because while you can 'go big [exact quote: "big operation"] small motions work fine. Moving just the tip of the wrist is properly recognized by the controller."
If you'd like to trawl through the robot translated files, you can run the links above through a translator such as Babelfish. Or you could simply wait for PALGN's full review in about a month. Either way, really, it's cool.

Cool, still want to play it and see for myself though. Oh, and is it just me or are Zelda's screenshots really hit and miss?

Reminds of why I love the Japanese language so much. However nothing beats zombi's sentence in Japanese class: "I go to the supermarket by milk and apples" icon_biggrin.gif

go-nintendo.com had a link to a mag reviewer posting impressions of the game after 35+ hours into the final build. Basically said the game is awesome and the controller works very well. Getting excited now!

Yeah, maybe I'll have to add it to my launch list.

I know... the little trickle of wii news every day makes it more and more unbearable. I'm putting my pwii order in today and I think that's only going to make it worse.

I wanna play TP but I don't think i'm as 'excited' as the other peepz in here.
I'm sure it will be a great game but it still has the same Zelda paraphernalia...which to me is getting a bit old.
I wanna see if the control is up to scratch though first.

I have waited this long now I'll see it through irrespective of good/bad/indifferent press reviews.

P.S I'll be happy to lend him out if anyone needs a try before buy. Now just have to muster the funds in time.

My hype for Zelda died down a long time ago, and SOTC kind of filled that void for another epic adventure anyway. It'll be great for sure, I mean they've had like the entire previous gen to develop it or something, surely it'd be quality. Plus First party nintendo titles usually kick large amounts of arse.

Why machine translate? why actual people can do it? icon_razz.gif
Here's some bit and piece I think is interesting: (bear with my own poor translation)
There's mention that Link's movement speed is a lot faster.
This time it's in both world of Hyrule and Twilight. You begin in Hyrule, and in an event, you stepped into Twilight and Link met a demon (/monster). Then on Link's right hand (/arm) the symbol of Hyrule kingdom - the triforce appear. From there, a light shine onto the demon and weaken (?) it. Maybe Link got some kinda special power?
And when you enter Twilight, Link turn into a wolf. And got caught by the demon and taken to the prison and met an important character Midona, and adventured with him.

Man I didn't need to read that link turns into a wolf..bah!!
Now i'm spoiled.. icon_sad.gif

I am excited about TP but don't have a cube and won't be getting a Wii, so no chance there for me.

When I finally get a Wii i'll get TP. Or I should make that if...

^ Surely you could pick up a Cube for cheap? Don't they come free when you buy a pack of gum these days?
Gum is so expensive though nowdays. icon_wink.gif

What's happening with the 'cube releasse of TP here anyways?
Yeah i wanna know as well, last i heard was that only Japan were getting the cube version.
Last I heard (and there's a thread on the Gaming forum from last week...) was that it's now EB exclusive. Which probably means it'll be $100, and probably means you're out of luck without a pre-order.

I know I'll probably miss out without one, but I'm honestly too lazy and against the idea of pre-ordering to bother.
iirc, it's not coming to retail stores in Japan, only online stores.

and the Gamecube version is exclusive to EB. (they have the mock boxes on shelves now btw).
