Ubisoft confirms 7 Wii launch titles

Wii News | Far Cry, Rayman, Red Steel and more confirmed from day one.
It seems Ubisoft is in love with the Wii. Today they've announced that seven titles will be available on the console's launch, finally crushing doubt about some long rumoured games.

The seven games currently in development are Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII, Far Cry, GT Pro Series, Open Season, Monster 4X4 World Circuit, Rayman Raving Rabbids and Red Steel. All games appear to be taking advantage of the Wiimote, except for possibly Open Season.

Just in case you're wondering, the press release didn't contain any hints about when the console will be out, but the blurb did say there would be more titles on the way in 2007, so it seems highly probable we'll be getting the Wii this year. Fingers crossed then.

Seven launch titles! How is that physically possible? Where does Ubisoft get the time to produce so many?

They are really showing how committed they are to the Wii.

It also shows how the dev support is headed between PS3 and Wii. With pubs announcing all the time more and more Wii titles, while the PS3 horizon still looks pretty bare, you can get a whiff of how they think things are going to go.

True. I heart Ubisoft. Most of the time.. Well, I certainly do at the moment, I'm glad to see they like the Wii so much.

They're a huge publisher, much like the Euro version of EA (but less evil!).

Does anyone have the link for the proposed release titles for both Wii and PS3?

Also, a couple of those titles are ports from PS2 or Xbox; and of course Wii isn't as powerful as the other next gen systems so it doesn't require as many people to develop each title.

7 on wii by just ubisoft will be awesome. havent even heard that half of those were coming out lol. By the way, how many are coming out at wii launch by other publishers

I'm surprised to see Far Cry listed... but then again, I live under a rock

I just hope a big bulk of them don't suck. All Wii needs is 7 BAAAAAD games for launch. Well, Rayman seems to be coming along nicely, and Red Steel is supposed to be better than it was at E3... Maybe it won't be so bad.

Still, if 5 of those games are ABOVE average and ready for the Wii launch, then I'll be surprised.

Rayman still exclusive to Wii? Little Google search showed up conflicting reports.

Rayman isn't exclusive to Wii, although it's been primarily created with the Wii in mind AFAIK.

Well regardless of Ubisoft having 7 launch titles only 1 or 2 of those interest me (Raving Rabbits and Red Steel). Currently I plan to get Twilight Princess with the Wii but will have to wait and see which version of Raving Rabbits is the best before plunking down some cash for it.

^ no, but it’s the main console for it.

Edit. whoa these posts weren't up when I looked here.
