New Call of Duty 3 screens & info

Wii News | Exclusive screens for Australian media and confirmation as Wii launch title.

At the recent Activate Asia press conference, PALGN had the opportunity to watch the first couple of levels of Call of Duty 3 demoed on an Xbox 360. Set in WWII, CoD 3 plays through the historic Normandy Breakout campaign during the liberation of Paris. While the game build had only slightly been improved from its E3 appearance, we were still suitably impressed. The smoke and explosion effects are looking particularly realistic.

PALGN will have some extended impressions in our write up of the conference by the end of the week. In the meantime Activision have released some new screenshots for CoD 3 exclusively to the Australia media. Taken from the Xbox 360 and PS3 builds of the game, you can check them out in our media panel.

Call of Duty 3 is scheduled to be released on Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox & PS2 in November this year. While still officially scheduled for November at the conference, Activision did announce that the game will be a launch title for the Wii. Release date speculation aside, we find it interesting that if the Wii is launched before November this would make the Wii version of CoD 3 the first to hit the shelves. The alternative is, of course, that the Wii will launch in November. Make of this what you will.

So what makes these missions different from CoD and CoD2, didn't you get to play the entire war in them? Nice to see Aussies get something exclusive.

Looks good, nice to hear that a game like that will be available at launch, helps to lose the kiddy image a bit/ gives a wider selection of games.

COD3 will be what COD2 should have been, but im still glad they gave us COD2 while we wait for the main meal

so is this the sequel to the PC CODs, or the consoles CODs (Finest Hour and Big Red One)?

no mention of PC in that list is all.

Will it just be variations of the same levels from COD2?

Doesn't impress me. Looks to be the same as CoD2 tbh, just with new tidbits. But then in the end, I was never a big fan of CoD.

COD2 and COD1 were better than BRO, but BRO was far better than the atrocity that was Finest Hour (the original console spin off). It could go either way for COD3 at this stage.

They are not.

If you actually bothered to read the article, rather than jump the gun and go straight to the pictures, you would've noticed this little passage:

" In the meantime Activision have released some new screenshots for CoD 3 exclusively to the Australia media. Taken from the Xbox 360 and PS3 builds of the game, you can check them out in our media panel."

So, unless Nintendo changed their console name to Xbox 360 or PS3 I'd have to say no, these aren't from their console.

Thy look similar to the ones we've seen that were labelled as Wii shots. Chances are if it looks a lot worse than 360 or PS3 screens, it's a Wii shot
