Interestingly enough, the release of the new screens has coincided with an interview in the recent issue of Nintendo Power magazine with Raving Rabbids producer, Michael Ancel. Surprisingly, what was revealed in the interview was that Ubisoft has given the Wii version of Rayman Raving Rabbids full attention over the other versions, so much so that they'll be receiving mere ports of the Wii incarnation. "We believe in the Wii and building gameplay around the controller," Ancel stated.
What's new in Rayman's next outing you ask? Apparently, there'll be the inclusion of an offline four player multiplayer mode. As for an online mode, Ancel did hint that he (and Ubisoft) had ideas. “We’re still waiting for more information from Nintendo. We have some ideas that we definitely want to implement; we’re just waiting to hear from them to make sure we can do it.”
Other trinkets of information that have also been revealed is that the Wii-mote can be turned on its side and used as a steering wheel to take control of a Warthog to win a race, something which sounds similar to the expected control schemes of ExciteTruck. Also, in another mode, players will be able to hold down the B button on the underside of the Wii-mote and swing the controller around. On screen, this is supposedly to swing chained cows around.
Currently, Rayman: Raving Rabbids is set to be released along side the Wii at launch. It is unclear though when it will be released on other consoles, though it's safe to bet they will appear around the same time.
