Recently in London, Nintendo held a press event to show off the Wii. During this event, Daily Star reporter, Paul Malley had apparently learnt a few things that other British newspapers have failed to report. After reporting on various Wii games that have already been announced and being shown the likes of Zelda, Wii Sports, etc., the article mentioned a Star Wars title: "In Star Wars-style games, the controller becomes a light-sabre. A separate, optional controller held in the other hand can become a shield." Later, Malley also had this to say: "Two dozen games will be available when the system is launched in Britain at the end of November, priced around £170 [$290AU]."
Whether or not this new information is 100% fact is yet to be confirmed. What we do know however, is that LucasArts were reportedly interested in developing a Star Wars game for the Wii. As for the release date information, Nintendo has stated September as the month in which it will officially announce the date and price for Wii.
Rest assured PALGN will keep you informed on the matter as information becomes available.
