More Wii release date and price speculation

Wii Rumour | This time, British tabloid "knows" the information. Plus, Star Wars Wii?
After the recent Wii release speculation, you would've thought we'd be given a rest from the rumours for at least a few weeks... Sadly, more speculation has been doing the rounds on the internet again.

Recently in London, Nintendo held a press event to show off the Wii. During this event, Daily Star reporter, Paul Malley had apparently learnt a few things that other British newspapers have failed to report. After reporting on various Wii games that have already been announced and being shown the likes of Zelda, Wii Sports, etc., the article mentioned a Star Wars title: "In Star Wars-style games, the controller becomes a light-sabre. A separate, optional controller held in the other hand can become a shield." Later, Malley also had this to say: "Two dozen games will be available when the system is launched in Britain at the end of November, priced around £170 [$290AU]."

Whether or not this new information is 100% fact is yet to be confirmed. What we do know however, is that LucasArts were reportedly interested in developing a Star Wars game for the Wii. As for the release date information, Nintendo has stated September as the month in which it will officially announce the date and price for Wii.

Rest assured PALGN will keep you informed on the matter as information becomes available.

i posted a topic about a star wars game for wii. The console built for this kinda thing. The price seems good to that $290 which seems quite reasonable

Let's hope he's not making it up, that price is excellent!

I'm just going to sit back and wait till Nintendo officially announces the date and price for the new console. No rumor or British tabloid will make me think twice about this subject.

That same article announced that the Wii was actually announced yesterday, so take their information with a grain of salt (uhhh.. that is the right expression right?).

Also, aren't British tabloids notorious for making stuff up?

^ yeah, they aren't great sources of news, or anything factual really.

Like I said, let's hope he's not making it up! *crosses fingers*

Let's hope he is, £170 is completely out of whack with the not above $250us that Nintendo have *actually said* and end of November is post PS3 launch which would be disasterous for Nintendo.

This is just over-conservative speculation designed to not dissapoint the Daily Stars incredibly well read and intelligent readers. (hint: average reading age of 5)

The Daily Star?

It's fake then.

I was only talking about the price, that release date stinks. $300 AUD is a great price, that's what I'm hoping for. It's not 'out of whack'.

The Cube was $330, not $349.

It was $319 in Australia. At first though it was going to be $399 but then Xbox became that price so Nintendo changed it to $319.

I believe Nis's right, it was $329. Just a minor correction. icon_wink.gif
