Wii Motor Sports next in line for the Wii?

Wii Rumour | Looks like Nintendo isn't finished with just one Wii sports title.

According to the latest issue of Nintendo Power, there is in fact a second Wii Sports title in the works. However, as apposed to hitting a tennis ball, this new adaptation is said to feature a range of easy-to-drive vehicles.

One of the games to be included in the package was in fact shown at E3 and was called Wii Sports Airplane. The demo of Wii Sports Airplane used the Wii's controller like a paper airplane having players tilt the controller back and forth to control the airplane on screen.

The magazine was also quick to hint that a future WaveRace game may be included in the package leaving a few questions answered about the fate of the WaveRace series.

At this point in time however, it is unclear if the is officially in development. It safe to say though if Wii Sports becomes a huge hit on the Wii, Nintendo will most likely follow up with Wii Motor Sports. We'll report back once we know whether this is true or just Nintendo Power speculation.

Saw this over at IGN earlier. As long as Nintendo's intention isn't to replace their franchises with simple(r) games, then I am all for it. If it is purely demonstrating what the Wiimote can do and the simple fun that it can give you, then bring it on, as long as they don't replace Wave Race (or any other franchise for that matter).

On a side note, interesting to know that it is called Wii Motor Sports. While yes, both the JetSki and the Aeroplane do have 'motors' in them, by general definition neither of these vehicles fit in with the 'Motorsport' theme. JetSkis for example would generally fit into the water sports category and the Aeroplane would just be under 'flying'. Well, that's how I see it anyway. Maybe a Kart game will also be included, completing what seems to be generally a set of 3 sport titles per 'Wii Sports' package. As long as it doesn't replace Mario Kart...
