E3 2006: Wii light-gun attachment surfaces

Wii News | Could be handy for hunting season.
Amongst the images of the finalised Wii controller, Nunchuck attachment and Virtual Console shell that have been spreading the web during this busy time, another Wii peripheral has made the transition from concept to reality. And those who've had their interests perked up by the impending Duck Hunt may be glad to know that the Wii-mote will now have a light-gun attachment. Rather than us describing it, you can see it for yourselves. Here, in fact:

Nice.

Nice.

While nothing too revelatory, it could be quite significant not only for light-gun shooters but for first-person shooters as well.

They stole my idea! I posted weeks ago that I'd like to see a light-gun attachment
Nintendo reps must be stalking me, it's the only explanation...if you're reading this, I'm onto you!

Quick zombi, suggest Australia to be included in the world wide launch!

mebbe it is just that pic, but this looks rather big and clunky to me. Ok, so sure its gonna kick serious butt. I just hope it is not a x-box in proportion irl as it appears in that pic is all. It would be just too bulky to use comfortably.

Still.. win for concept, obviously icon_smile.gif
Now.. where is my Point Blank Collection???

I saw a video interview with someone from Nintendo and she said they are aiming for a worldwide launch and the interviewer asked if that included Japan, Europe and America and she said don't forget about Australia.

I think using the thumb control and the trigger would be a little awkward
(thumb and forefinger are too close IMO)

Out of interest, have they shown it being used for Duck Hunt or something yet? Any footage or photos on the net? Hopefully it won't be used for those stupid hunting games they're always releasing that completly suck because the animals just stand around doing nothing until they hear a gun shot which is when they start walking.... towards you!

It may look big, but remember the wiimote is freaking tiny.

I was looking at the design again and if you held it kind of like a shotgun, one hand at the trigger and the other further up in the standard wii position you could easily use it for first person shooters, given the analog stick on the stock. So maybe it won't be strictly used for "on rails" light gun games.
