Courtesy of IGN, we learn that Atari has indeed confirmed that this will be the first DBZ game for the next generation. Not only that, but the game will be making full use of the Revolution controller's unique features. Director of marketing for Atari, Matt Collins mentions "The innovative controller featured with Nintendo Revolution is perfectly suited for Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2, which engages players with fast-paced fighting moves. Gamers will be able to play in a very physical way, mimicking several of the show's most popular character moves and pull off awesome combos and attacks."
As we already know, the game is a sequel to Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi Budokai that combines a unique fighting perspective with typically fast paced battles. The game encompases the entire Dragon Ball universe and will include over 100 playable characters, 15 destructible environments and 9 game modes. New to this version are in-game transformations and full Revolution controller usage. "Using the Nintendo Revolution controller, players will be able to mimic signature moves as they are performed in the Dragon Ball Z animated series, such as Goku's Kamehameha, moving both hands to executive this devastating energy attack," said Atari.
Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year for PS2 but Atari have mentioned that the Revolution version is set for a "holiday release". Not only does it look good for the game but hopefully for a 2006 release of the Revolution console as well. We'll bring you more as it becomes available to us.
