Real or fake? Revolution interface shots hit the net

Wii News | We're guessing these won't be the last we'll see.
A pair of photographs have recently surfaced on the internet, allegedly showing the interface for Nintendo's forthcoming Revolution console.

The first of the two shots, which initially popped up over at Nintendogal.com and which can be viewed in the Media Panel here, shows a Japanese gentleman stood in front of a projector screen displaying the alleged Revolution interface. The second of the shots is simply a photograph of the screen alone, complete with a menu that tantalisingly reads:

Game Catalog
Friend Management
Manage Memory
DS Connection
Control Settings
Nintendo Store

Hmm. Still, we'd advise you all take this with a pinch of salt for now - if the shots are bogus, then they're fairly decent frauds. But until Uncle Nintendo says or shows otherwise (and we're guessing that won't be until E3), it's probably best we file these in the close-to-exploding 'Revolution rumours' file for now.

The projection looks fake to me. The fact that the TV shot is showing the exact same image suggests the work of a photoshop artist.

hahaha... how do you know how many options are actually there, and whether or not there are further menus elsewhere? have you secretly been working on the Revolution with Nintendo?

I'm sick of people going out of their way to (try to) prove that something is a fake. Don't stress too much, take it as it is for the time being until we know for sure either way. I'm not saying believe it's true, but stop acting like you're all Photoshop experts and saying how it must have been conjured up by some trickster.

Here! Here! But judging from some of the signature's on this forum it seems that there ARE indeed photoshop experts in our midst (and it takes one to know one). I'd wager though that Nintendo itself will probably use photoshop in development of the interface anyway making it somewhat of a moot point!

As for these pretty shady photos, someone could have mocked up a fake interface, superimposed it over a japanese man with a judicious helping of gaussian blur (EDIT: this is what has happened, Google image search "presentation") and then gone to the effort of distorting, pixelating, interlacing and perspective transforming it so it appears to be on a CRT. Occam's razor states that the simplest answer is true, these are real photos of a CRT display that includes mario, which may or may not (confirmed IS not) be part of the Rev interface.

VOOT's logical analasys of the content is more meaningful than simply telling us what we all know: in the digital age you can't trust what you see.

Fake. 'nuff said.

fake, but looks quite good. why are nintendo so secretive with the revolution?

It's now a known fact that anything suspicious or something trying to pass as a legit photo is blurry! First, if they were allowed to take photos why does it look like someone with an epileptic fit took the shot? And if photos were a big no, someone would've noticed that obvious "flash" go off.
In the end though that big white line in the middle of the presenter's body gives it away.

What if they use a pen camera with shitty resolution and no flash? Huh? Huh? What if? icon_wink.gif

What if I was taking a shower and I slipped on a bar of soap?

Oh my god I'd be killed!

Eh, fake, real, whats the difference? Until I get to experience the Rev for myself and play around with its intereface what do I care?
