Nintendo Store Update - 30/09/2011

Wii News | Escape reality today with Golden Coins and Swords.
In the final Nintendo Store Update of September, three titles have been presented to us across the platforms. On the WiiWare front, gamers can be treated to the likes of escapeVektor: Chapter 1. Meanwhile, for those who have a preference for handheld gaming, two iconic Nintendo franchises have found life on the 3DS and the DSi in the form of Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins and The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition. Perhaps best of all, Four Swords is for free until February 2012 as part of the 25th anniversary for the Legend of Zelda series.

Title: escapeVektor: Chapter 1
System: WiiWare
Price: 500 Wii Points

This interesting arcade-style game from developers Nnoo has you play as Vektor, who is stuck inside a CPU and needs your help to escape. To do so, you must work your way through thirty different levels across five worlds.

Title: Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
System: Game Boy (Virtual Console)
Price: $6.00

Easily one of the most popular hand-held Mario games ever created, Super Mario 2: 6 Golden Coins has you again engaged in some classic platforming action. 6 Golden Coins is also significant in Nintendo's history as it was the game that introduced the world to the character Wario, who is still going strong after all of this time.

Its-a he, Wario!

Title: The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition
System: DSiWare
Price: Free

The original Four Swords Adventures was a great exercise in multiplayer mayhem, and this anniversary edition is no different. Buddying up with other players, gamers can work together to rescue Princess Zelda, all the while competing against each other for who can collect the most Rupees. This version is not without its tweaks though: single players can control two Links at once, and there are also exclusive features that can be unlocked in this version, such as the Hurricane Spin attack and the legendary Master Sword.

Looking forward to giving Four Swords a go tonight after work for that price! Might even buy Super Mario Land. Are the controls as dated and rough as I'm thinking they must be?

Also a little note about the article: This version is now without its tweaks though probably meant to be "not" without?

Super Mario Land 2 was and still is freakin awesome. SML1 was cool too, but the sequel was a vast improvement. Those two Mario games and Tetris were the top battery eaters in the pre-Pokemon GameBoy days...

Thanks, the typo has been amended.

As for the controls in 6 Golden Coins, I dowloaded it today and they do seem just a bit stiff to me at times, but it's still a lot of fun to play.
