Nintendo store update - 04/09/09

Wii News | Lost in translation.
It’s Friday again and you all know what that means – the PAL Nintendo stores have been updated. This week, Nintendo has released the WiiWare game Contra ReBirth on the Wii Shopping Channel, while the DSi Store gets a software application called 6 in 1 Dictionary with Camera Function.

The WiiWare service seems to be a haven for returning franchises, with Contra ReBirth joining other classic games including Rainbow Islands and Puzzle Bobble. The Contra series is perhaps best known for its brutal gameplay, where players have to progress through 2D side-scrolling levels and shoot anything that fights back. What makes it so challenging? The fact you will die instantly if you take a single hit. It’s old school gaming at its finest! The game will set you back 1000 Wii points.

6 in 1 Dictionary with Camera Function is a software application which lets you translate words across six different languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Japanese. The application also lets you take pictures of a word using the DSi camera, and it will supposedly be able to recognise and translate it instantly - yep, we don’t even want to imagine the potential lost in translation moments that could arise from that one. The application will set you back 800 DSi points.

*Please note that Contra ReBirth is not available on the Australian Wii Shop Channel.

What? is this Australia release for Contra or what?
I heard it wasn't out in Aus but is in Europe.

btw, Contra Rebirth is an original. Its built on 16bit graphics but its original, you might want to correct that. http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=18391

Okay, first of all the Nintendo Store updates are for "PAL Nintendo Stores" which includes Europe/UK.

Second of all, I will admit I didn't realise Contra wasn't on the Aussie Wii Shop Channel. I apologise for any confusion and have edited the article to reflect this.

UPDATE: If Konami flipping the bird @ Aussie gamers wasn't enough, Nintendo have just dropped the asking price for Dictionary 6 in 1 with Camera Function for DSiWare from 800 to 500 Nintendo Points.

Sucks to burn 300 Nintendo Points..
