Nintendo Store update - 30/07/09

Wii News | Look, a three-headed monkey!
It’s Friday again and you all know what that means – the Australian and European Nintendo Stores have been updated. This week, the WiiWare games Driift Mania, The Three Musketeers: One for All! and Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal have been released on the Wii Shop Channel. Meanwhile, the DSi Shop gets the new DSiWare game Guitar Rock Tour.

Driift Mania is a racing game that lets players view the whole track from a bird’s-eye perspective. The game features 12 race courses set across four areas including a city, desert, snow and country, all of which have different effects on vehicles. Up to eight players can join in multiplayer antics using a combination of Wii remotes, Nunchuck controllers and Classic controllers, and you can also pair-up in team races. The game will set you back 800 Wii points.

The Three Musketeers: One for All! is actually a port of the 2005 PC platformer The Three Musketeers. In the game players assume the role of Porthos and go on an adventure to rescue his kidnapped companions. It’s a pretty decent platformer and has some very eye-catching 2D visuals to boot. The game will set you back 900 Wii points.

Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal is the first chapter in this planned five-part episodic series. The series’ hero Guybrush Threepwood is battling the pirate LeChuck and somehow manages to get marooned on a strange island. Players must help Guybrush escape, as well as investigate a mysterious voodoo pox which is spreading through the isles. The game will set you back 1000 Wii points.

It appears the DSi Store just keeps getting more and more mini-versions of full retail release games. Guitar Rock Tour is based on the full retail release of the same name, and has players tap notes which scroll down the touch screen. The game will set you back 500 DSi points.
