Wii Sports Resort bargain round-up

Wii News | You'll need every cent you can save for those inevitable doctor appointments due to your sore shoulders.
Wii Sports Resort needs almost no introduction. The sequel to what is probably the most played and well known Wii game available, Wii Sports Resort has been designed to showcase the capabilities of the Wii MotionPlus peripheral. Those E3 2009 videos left many of you excited for the next step in motion control, and now it’s finally available in Australia. To celebrate, we’ve compiled a list of specials currently available across retailers, but to start off we’re going to explain what this guide covers.

This guide includes prices for both Wii Sports Resort and the Wii MotionPlus peripheral. Wii Sports Resort has a suggested retail price of $99.95 and comes bundled with one Wii MotionPlus unit. Wii MotionPlus is sold separately at a retail cost of $29.95, and plugs into the Wii remote to enhance how quickly and accurately the system detects motion. If you intend to play multiplayer in Wii Sports Resort, you will need additional Wii MotionPlus units for each Wii remote.

Toys ‘R’ Us is offering the game at the cheapest price of $69.99, while Big W has the next best price of $78. Meanwhile, Wii MotionPlus units are also the cheapest at Toys ‘R’ Us with a price tag of $26, with JB Hi-Fi being the next best alternative at $27. It should be noted, however, Dick Smith has a deal where you can purchase Wii Sports Resort and a second Wii MotionPlus unit for just $88 – that’s a saving of more than $42. Even with Toys ‘R’ Us’ cheaper pricing, Dick Smith still works out as the best deal. We certainly know where we’re heading tomorrow morning!

As always, there are a few trade-in deals available just in case your wallet still hasn’t recovered from the various toy sales over the past month. By trading-in two games at either EB Games or JB Hi-Fi, you’ll be able to go home with Wii Sports Resort for FREE. Just remember to check out EB’s eligible trade-ins list and JB’s exclusions list (.pdf file) before heading into your local store.

A complete list of specials can be found below. If you have anything to add to this list, please email joseph.rositano@palgn.com.au or leave a message in the comments section. Prices were correct at time of publishing but are subject to change.

It may also be worth mentioning (from the latest Gaming Bargains) that Grand Slam Tennis (with Wii MotionPlus peripheral) is also available as a 2-game trade-in deal from JB.

Certainly that's my way of thinking anyway... I can walk into JB with 4 pre-loved games, and come out with 2 MotionPlus adaptors as well as 2 compatible games, with no money changing hands...

I got mine from that EB Games Swanston street launch late last night.

You get the Wii Sports (packed in with the wii motion), extra wii motion and a Wii 3rd Earth dual battery recharge pack (comes with docking station and everything not bad) - all for $79.
