Nintendo Store update - 10/07/09

Wii News | Bombs, German elephants and Art Style love.
It's Friday again and you all know what that means - the Australian and European Nintendo Stores have been updated. This week, the Wii Shop Channel welcomes the NES classic Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II and the Turbografx-16 title Bomberman '94 to the Virtual Console, while the WiiWare library is treated to 5 Spots Party and Karate Phants: Gloves of Glory. Not to be forgotten, the DSi Shop gets yet another Art Style game, dubbed BOXLIFE.

Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II was released in America in 1994 and was previously only available in that country. The game is a sequel to the original StarTropics and continues the story of Mike Jones. Having gone back to school after the first game, one day Mike receives a telepathic message which helps him decode a cipher his uncle has acquired. After reciting the message, Mike is transported through time into the past. The game will set you back 600 Wii points.

Bomberman ‘94 was originally released in 1993 and was only released outside of Japan as Mega Bomberman, the Sega Mega Drive port. If you’re familiar with the Bomberman games then there’s nothing new to say really – you play as the titular character Bomberman who runs around a grid blowing up enemies and obstacles. The game will set you back 700 Wii points.

5 Spots Party is probably one of the most basic WiiWare titles we’ve ever seen. Players are presented with two pictures, and your goal is to spot five differences between the two. Yep, plain and simple, and all for the low price of 500 Wii points.

Karate Phants: Gloves of Glory is a fighting game based on German comic book series Die Ottifanten, which translates to The Ottifants in English. The series stars a bunch of wacky elephants, who for some reason are holding a fighting tournament in this WiiWare game. You can duke it out in single-player antics or you can fight trunk to trunk in a 2-player versus mode. The game will set you back 800 Wii points.

Art Style: BOXLIFE, like other entries in the series, is a very simple puzzler. Essentially, you’re a worker in a box factory where you have to cut out shapes and fold them into boxes. There are two gameplay modes dubbed R&D and Factory. R&D is a more traditional mode and allows you to unlock new costumes for your character as well as earn promotions. Factory gives you an endless sheet of paper to cut patterns from and throws in the extra challenge of getting rid of bombs before they explode. The game will set you back 500 DSi points.
