Until I got to the 5th screenshot, I wasnt sure whether I was looking at the Wii or the DS version.. is that good for the DS, or bad for the Wii?

Judging by the resolution I'd say DS. Unfortunately it doesn't detract from how over NFS people like myself are. I can remember play the original game and saying "Wow, this is great. Finally a groundbreaking car game that doesn't look like a 1950's Disney cartoon with the reused backgrounds." Now I just think "Sad, so sad."

The first image looks awful, just from the texturing on that wall in the background. Were they trying to go for some sort of flame effect or something? It looks like something out of MS Paint or Kidpix.

Apart from that I don't mind the cartoony look of the cars, but the environments appear to lack any significant detail in those screens.

Ugh, the Wii shots are pretty horrible. I would expect better from a Megadrive with the 32X addon.

Personally I don't mind the art direction they've gone with. The cars have a nice cartoony look to them and whilst the environments aren't very detailed they've at least made them look very clean.

I guess this game will come into one of those "realism vs not" things. Personally I'd prefer to see games take a step back from realism and go for more of a cell shaded look or something like this. All in all it's actually a fairly nice looking Wii game.

The DS screens on the other hand are pure unbridled ugly.

The DS screens remind me of Super Mario Kart =)

The Wii ones look like the backgrounds will get a little boring. Cars don't look too bad though. I'm guessing the black/orange car texture in the first shot is intentionally pixellated.
