Tony Hawk: Ride details emerge

Wii News | First look at skateboard peripheral.
After a year off to reinvent the staling series "from the ground up," Activision has announced that a new iteration to the Tony Hawk skateboarding games is on the way with Tony Hawk: Ride. Hoping to increase the rivalry between the Tony Hawk and Skate, Ride is throwing away the standard console controller and replacing it with a brand new skateboard peripheral (as seen in our media panel).

As explained in the latest episode of Gametrailers TV, Tony Hawk shows off the board in action, explaining that the board contains tilt sensors to control general movement, with infra-red sensors able to pick up the placement of your hand or foot, allowing players to perform grabs and flips in-game.

Tony Hawk: Ride is scheduled for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii towards the end of 2009.

What about if you dont wanna use the Skate Board Controller, can you still use a standard control?

That board looks sexy.
More or less though i think it'll be too good to be true. Trying to do tricks on that thing wouldn't be realistic or probably even fun.
Tony Hawk is known for its whacky tricks and all, you play it because it ain't realistic, and i don't know ow most gamers are gonna be able to do some of the crazy stuff on that board.

Activision are certainly loving the cash they make from peripherals though icon_razz.gif
