Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World heading to Wii

Wii News | Coming to Australia this spring.
Namco Bandai has announced today that Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World will be released in Australia for the Wii in the third quarter of 2009.

The RPG is a follow-up to the cult hit Tales of Symphonia on the GameCube. Dawn of the World promises to introduce a new monster collection system that will let players "capture, evolve and do battle with more than 200 monsters alongside a huge cast of new and returning characters."

Set two years after Tales of Symphonia, Dawn of the World will feature two new heroes, Emil Castagnier and Marta Lualdi, as well as previous 'fan-favourite' characters including Lloyd, Colette and Sheena. Once players have captured monsters they've faced in battle, they can feed them to make them more powerful, evolve them into new forms and take up to three of them into any battle situation, "offering unique benefits against enemies and imparting new strategic depth to the Tales series’ lauded real-time battle system."

Up to four players will be able to play cooperatively. We're also told that the PAL version of the game will feature exclusive content including a 'Gallery Mode' and new masks and accessories. Sounds interesting.

More information, including a release date, will be reported as it surfaces.

*sigh*...

I always get so excited when I see these old skool lookin' RPGs showing up on the Wii and the DS, and it always turns out to be a disappointment when I look up their ratings.

Is it just not possible to get good RPGs on Nintendo platforms any more?

To be fair, Dawn of the New World is one of those games that has a ton of very obvious flaws, but you're willing to overlook them if you're a fan of the series. I can understand why it's been rated harshly, but I'm enjoying it ayway (+1 not being able to wait for the PAL date).

Tales of Symphonia is one of my all time favourites, so seeing how Dawn of the New World turned out broke my heart icon_sad.gif

Vesperia, while in my opinion not as good as the original ToS, is a far superior effort for those who haven't imported yet and are still waiting.
