LEGO Rock Band confirmed

Wii News | Get your blocks off.
Warner Bros. and Harmonix have just announced the existence of LEGO Rock Band, no doubt delighting the thousands of fans desperate for the crossover.

The concept behind the game is to 'Build a Band and Rock the Universe', with players encouraged to create and customise their own rockstars with LEGO (obviously), as well as the band's crew. Expect plenty of humour and exotic locations en route to stardom.

Five songs have currently been confirmed: 'Song 2' by Blur, 'The Final Countdown' by Europe, 'Kung Fu Fighting' by Carl Douglas, Pink's 'So What' and Good Charlotte's 'Boys and Girls'.

A whopping five companies will be teaming up to deliver the game - developer TT Games, The LEGO Group, MTV Games, Harmonix and publisher Warner Bros. Quite the collaboration, then.

Warner Bros. are promising an end of year release for LEGO Rock Band on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and DS.

Well from the song list it looks like it's the "Pop Version" of RB which will probably be great for those interested in RB but turned off by it's rock/alternative/classics angle. The rest of us, who like RB for what it is, can steer clear. Probably a good title to compete with SingStar? Would love me some Song 2 though...

I would also LOVE to play The Final Countdown! I'd have to paint my chest with playing cards and rip my shirt off each time I did though...

If i don't get to make the instruments out of lego, then i have 0 interest.

Song 2, Final Countdown and Kung Fu Fighting? Yes, the concept may be sketchy at best, but it looks to me like the song list will make up for it.

As long as you can continue to import your old rock band songs, I'm in.

hopefully they can back this one up with transformers band

The Final Countdown....

That songs pretty much got me sold.

So the songs sound good, but why involve LEGO at all? There's gotta be some sort of gimmick in there rather than just a different looking avatar.

Will it be like Rock Band AC/DC, where you can download the songs to your HDD? Or like The Beatles: Rock Band, where it is it's own game with DLC etc. I'm interested to see how it turns out, how it is different to the others.

the note-highway better be made out of lego blocks.
I'll be more interested in the game when we see more track lists.

Let us make our own stages icon_smile.gif
Thatd get me interested.

To me, the track list looks awful, and so does the concept of combining Rock band with lego. Only decent song there is song 2... but it's not nearly enough to warrant even a budget price point purchase for me.

This just seems stupid. Pure exploitation.

I'm just waiting for the song announcement of 'Another Brick In The Wall'.

rock band 2 better come out before this because we've waited so long for rb1 and we havent got rb2 yet and they've announced a this one for the end of the year

Import it from the UK, works perfectly with all AU DLC.

I agree with sambo
Just imported RB2 last week, it has a good setlist and lets you use all your DLC/import songs from RB1. Got it from game.co.uk and it came in 3 days, great service.
Has some better options and the like.
Also price with shipping ended up at about $80, cheaper than in stores.

I agree. Load of crap much?

The worst feature of Guitar Hero World Tour was that they focused so much on customisation of your character and stuff like that. Rock Band should be going in the opposite direction IMO.

As others have said, The Final Countdown = win

But I could not play through a game that made me finish a song by Pink. This game only needs to have one 1000 point achievement called 'Ear Drum Killer' or something that involes simply sitting through one of Pink's songs without smashing your console.

Bring on The Beatles.

So maybe this game isn't aimed at the hardcore GH players? Given the premise - Lego characters and loose story, coupled with the tracks that have been announced so far, this sounds like a more accessible version of Rock Band for a younger crowd, or one that's not into the heavy rock/metal that's on the other RB/GH games.

I know a number of families who would buy this without even needing to think about it - a more wholesome set list combined with the humour that TT is known for in its Lego games combined with the quality of RB game mechanics.

So you're saying you're going to steer clear because of the song list, but out of the five songs announced you want to play two of them? icon_smile.gif

Wow some actual sense.

Alot of people in this thread are being completly retarded.

This game isn't for you it's for younger kids that don't know or care who REM or Black Sabath are.

Just cause it's not the music you like doesn't mean it's bad.
