Wii gets Virtual Console Arcade

Wii News | For arcade-ing, obviously.
Nintendo's keynote at GDC revealed that the Wii's Virtual Console has expanded to include a new section - the Virtual Console Arcade. From today, four launch games are available for download (as in, right now), and two more are possibly on the way later.

The games available now are Gaplus by Namco Bandai for 600 Wii Points, The Tower of Druaga by Namco Bandai for 500 Wii Points, Starforce by Namco Bandai for 500 Wii Points and Mappy by Namco Bandi for 500 Wii Points. Still to come are Space Harrier by Sega, and Solvalou by Namco Bandai, as well as Space Invaders.

Heh... Mappy =)

The Virtual Console is starting to get a really wide range of platforms incorporated. Maybe it's time I spend some time browsing for a few more choice titles. I've not really bought anything on there since the Wii's launch.

If this is the 'arcade' i'm thinking of, could be the perfect opportunity for Sega, Namco and Capcom to delve into the old portfolio (as Namco have to start with) and re-release those hard to find arcade gems. Just as long as it doesn't rehash titles already available on home console compilations.

Daytona anyone?
