Spectrobes: Origins announced

Wii News | And it won't be heading to the Nintendo DS.
Disney Interactive Studios has announced via a press release that they are currently developing a third entry for the Spectrobes franchise titled Spectrobes: Origins. Surprisingly, the game won't be released on the Nintendo DS, instead jumping ship and being an exclusive Wii title.

Not a lot has been revealed about the game, though it will apparently reveal new secrets from previous entries through flashbacks. Staple elements such as fossil excavating, exploration and large scale battles will also return.

“The popularity and creativity of the Wii platform make it the perfect stage for this exciting evolution of the Spectrobes franchise,” said Craig Relyea, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. “Spectrobes: Origins delivers the immersive storytelling, dynamic action and memorable characters that audiences have come to expect of Disney entertainment.”

Spectrobes: Origins is scheduled to be released in Autumn (or Spring for Australia) this year. We'll report back once more information becomes available. In the meantime, you can check out two screenshots in the media panel below.

Whoa that is two kinds of colourful. I should really play one of the DS versions because that looks maaaaaad.

Hopefully this will also give GAMEFREAK a kick in the butt to turn Pokemon into something that looks like this (and plays like the handheld version)

I was just thinking the same thing. Pokemon really needs a reinvention. I'm not a fan of the characters, but I'm a fan of the gameplay, and it deserves a true next-gen title.

I'll definitely be picking this up. I need a proper next-gen pokemon styled game and this is it by the looks of it.
