New Indiana Jones game details are uncovered

Wii News | Yo dawg, I heard you like adventure games...
The official site for LucasArts' upcoming Indiana Jones title, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, has been updated with a plethora of new details regarding Indy's latest adventures, as well as the first screenshots of the game itself.

Old Indy (or rather, young Indy, seeing as the game is set in 1939) will visit several globe-trotting locations on his quest to find the Staff of Moses, from San Francisco's Chinatown to Panama, all the while crossing paths with his latest nemesis, Magnus Völler. The game also promises to harken back to the original trilogy of Indiana Jones films with action sequences reminiscent of their famous vehicular chases.

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings is set for release on Nintendo Wii, DS, PSP and Playstation 2. For the Wii, the game promises to allow you to wield Indy's whip for anything from combat to puzzle-solving, while the DS lets you use the stylus for the same purpose. The PSP version will feature six types of 'burst gameplay', including combat and physics challenges, puzzles and chase sequences. Features hopefully common to all versions include a biplane sequence, a raging river raft run and riding a wild elephant through Istanbul. The game will also have co-op gameplay, and a four-player multiplayer mode where players can battle in either biplanes or tanks.

Perhaps most interesting is that there will be several unlockables in the game, including the entire classic (and excellent) adventure game, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.

The game's release date is currently unknown, but we'll keep bringing you new information as it arises, provided that we can escape LucasArts' boulder-guarded tomb with it.

UPDATE: Joystiq have received confirmation that the Fate of Atlantis unlockable is exclusive to the Wii version of the game.

Won me over on two accounts. Co-op and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. I loved the old Indy games. Great fun and had you going for hours.

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of "Yo dawg, I heard you like adventure games so we put an adventure game in your adventure game so you can combine inventory items while you waggle yo' Wii remote, dawg."

Agreed, nice meme use icon_smile.gif Having Fate of Atlantis in it is a great step and the overall game seems half-decent at this stage too. It certainly has the right look for an Indy adventure.

If Fate of Atlantis has the english voices, I'd buy this regardless of the new game's quality.

I wish Lucasarts would release a BEST OF range on the Wii for their old games. I'd buy the old Monkey Island series, Full Throttle, Sam and Max, DoTT etc (english voice versions) in a heart beat.

I really really have the urge to play through Monkey Island 2 again.

oh man, LucasArts even acknowledging the existance of their awesome adventure games is a miracle in itself.

Whats happened to the PS3/360 Indy game that was using Euphoria? Has that been canned?

Hows about throwing the old SNES games on the wii version as well? (Yes, Im greedy, I LOVE unlockables) They were excellent adventure games.. not up to Fate of Atlantis in execution, but still fun for a while..

Indiana Jones and the Nuking of the Fridge

I'd also like to know what happened to the PS3/360 Indiana Jones that was announced a while back. It was the first time I heard about the Euphoria engine. I seem to remember seeing a screen or two set in San Francisco on one of the trolleys.
