The Conduit finds a publisher

Wii News | From the company that brought you the blue hedgehog.
It's no secret High Voltage has been seeking a publisher for their highly anticipated Wii-exclusive FPS The Conduit. Having won several awards following its showing at E3, it was only a matter of time before someone picked it up. Earlier this week, SEGA sent out a press release confirming they will be that publisher.

The Conduit takes place in Washington D.C., right after aliens have invaded Earth. Players assume the role of Secret Service agent Mr. Ford, and fight against the alien race known as The Drudge in a struggle for mankind. The game will apparently feature customisable controls, allowing players to set their preferred sensitivity and turning speed, amongst other unannounced options. There will also be online multiplayer support, as well as the ability to chat to other players via Nintendo's Wii Speak peripheral. SEGA have also confirmed players will also be able to "take advantage of the Wii MotionPlus" peripheral for "optimal control".

The Conduit is scheduled to be released in Spring (or Autumn for Australians) 2009. We'll report back once new information becomes available. In the meantime, you can view some new screenshots in the media panel below.

Sega is either being very smart or very stupid. The Wii is by far the console with the most installed base yet 3rd party land barley touch it. (Good ones that is, yes I know the Wii market is saturated with crap)

Now Sega is publishing the Conduit and MadWorld, the Wii's only 2 games that really got peoples attention at E3 and working on a brand new House of the Dead.

So far the only 3rd party game that really sold big on there was Guitar Hero, they sort of missed the boat on Rock Band. The 3rd party games that are most likely to sell this year are Guitar Hero World Tour, Rock Band 2 and (unfortunately) Hannah Montana.

Wii 3rd party games, some of them despite how awesome they are, they are usually to niche (Trauma Center), ports (Okami), games with better versions on other consoles (LEGO) etc.

We will see how the Conduit and MadWorld react with the core audience. Because these games do have the potential to be worth getting excited over.
