Win one of ten copies of Opoona

Wii Competition | One more day to grab this opoona-tunity.
PALGN has teamed up with THQ and Koei to give away ten copies of Opoona on the Nintendo Wii. The game is available now in Australia for $79.95.

Opoona is the story of a boy who is a descendant of brave warriors, known as Cosmo Guards. These Cosmo Guards strive to maintain universal peace. During a trip to the planet Landroll, Opoona becomes separated from his family. His brother and sister are missing, and his parents are hospitalized with serious injuries. In order to search for his siblings, Opoona must get a job and a license to travel between colonies. Thus, Opoona’s adventure begins as he struggles to establish a life for himself on this new planet. Opoona is a lifestyle RPG. The player must adapt to a new environment, meet new people, get a job, all while becoming aware of the precious world and people surrounding him.

Entry in the competition is simple - all you have to do is email your name and address to opoona@palgn.com.au. We will pick ten random winners who will each receive a Nintendo Wii copy of the game.

Opoona is now available for the Nintendo Wii. PALGN would like to thank THQ and Koei for the prizes. Look out for our review of Opoona shortly.

Terms and Conditions
This competition is open to Australian residents only. The competition commences immediately and will end on the 27th of October 2008. Ten (10) winners will win a copy of Opoona for the Nintendo Wii. The judge's decision is final. PALGN staff members and their immediate family are ineligible to win. PALGN is not responsible for lost or damaged mail and the prizes are not redeemable for cash. We reserve the right to substitute any of the prizes but will always do so for a prize of equal value. Nice competition guys, but why not put one of the ten up for auction? Would be good as the auction place has been empty for a while now. icon_smile.gif

Yeah, I wish there were more auctions. Never heard of this game, but I might win it and love it. You gotta be in it to win it. Love these easy comps.

I'd say that the reason there haven't been any auctions lately it because of the uproar that came around last time that an auction was held. This works out to be a lot more fair and puts everyone on a level playing field whilst with the auctions basically the same people keep winning them.

But at least people that have been on this site for a while, and are good posters, get the game, not some random that just found this site. I have nothing wrong with that, some of them might stay, but if it is on the auction the people that win it would deserve it.

But how does posting on a website make you any more deserving of winning a prize?

I can understand that some people would prefer that people they know and like win a prize but how does showing up on a website, typing some words on a screen and clicking submit make you any more deserving than your average Joe Blow?

It doesn't really make you more DESERVING of the game, but if they put one up it would be good. Wouldn't you like the chance to win the game, based off the quality of your posts etc, then luck? I think they should put one up on the auction store, like when I first signed up there was heaps of stuff.

But the thing is that people aren't winning because of the quality of their posts as opposed to posting heaps and people liking them enough to plus them heaps.

The thing is that these people that are winning the auctions are almost always the same group of people with half of them being the mod's (I don't have anything against you guys). Personally I've won about 5 or 6 auctions and picked up a few awesome items but the fact is that unless you're one of the most popular members here on the forum you have next to NO chance of winning one of the auctions.

The fact is Sambo that you and I have more chance of winning this way then we do with an auction. Those are left to the likes of TheAnswer, Obsolete and Groovy (and again I don't have anything against you guys, just using you as examples of high $poon owners).

The 27th of October seems so far away.

Just a question to the selfish, more "deserving" people of the site. I have only recently joined the site, not made any posts, however I've been supporting this site since day one, as I believe it's the best site on the net with the greatest (unbiased) reviews/preview/news etc. Does that mean I have no right to enter the comps? Just because I don't have time to make mostly meaningless posts about what I've purchased or an opinion I have on a game that will go mostly go ignored etc does not mean I have any less of a right to enter the comps than someone that make 1000 posts a day. That's just pathetic. I support the site in my own way. I won't bother entering any comps on this site though. It'll mean the greedy people will have a greater chance. Sorry about the rant, but I can't believe the stupidity that comes out of people mouths (or should I say fingers)

On that topic, the original poster only said 1 copy out of 10 should be up for auction.

How have you been supporting the site, by the way? Linking to it from your high traffic web-page, buying advertising space for it, sending donations?

If you're like me and all you do is read it you can get off your high horse.

**edit** - in response to below
Don't be ridiculous. I have like 5 spoons - there's no way I'd win any auction run on this site, so I'm obviously not motivated by greed. I'm saying the guy who suggested 1 out of 10 copies be set aside for the auction made a reasonable suggestion, whereas you seem to think he's the embodiment of Satan. It's a nice gesture that makes life on the forum a little more interesting, not babies juggling kittens over a pit of knives.

Don't make assumptions. Not anywhere did I make out I was any better than anyone else, but to say no one is more deserving than another. Everyone should have equal chances of winning competitions, no matter how they support the site. Whether that be someone who casually visits, someone who frequently posts on the forums, or someone who does as you say, and links it from their high traffic web-page, buys advertising space for it, sends donations etc. Now, instead of being selfish and only thinking about yourself winning the prize, how about you be thankful to PALGN in the first place? Even though I don't enter, I'm very appreciative of their acts of generosity.

You completely misunderstood what spoilers was saying, congratulations. It wasn't so much what Sambo was saying but how he was saying it. Claiming that somebody who doesn't post on the forums doesn't (and I'm reading between the lines regardless of what Sambo CLAIMS he intended) deserve to win the prize, which is outright stupidity.

Besides all that it wasn't even his suggestion, it was QBert's, Sambo only used that suggestion to further his own agenda of attacking "non-forumers" who would dare attempt to win something without first writing a thousand pieces of throwaway commentary.
Wow, it was only a suggestion. PALGN used to put aside 1 copy of whatever prize for the auction for most comps a few months back, I was just wondering if there was a reason for stopping or they forgot. I get that comps are meant to be there to be there as a way of getting more members to the site and for good publicity etc. I just really think the auction system is awesome. It's not even because I want the prize, I haven't entered and have never won an auction. After all what is the auction system there for if not to auction of prizes? It also gives a meaning to $poons (which could be considered a good or bad thing I guess).
Thank you Sin Ogaris. At least you understood what I was getting at.

The other reason I am against the auction system is because some people on here exploit it for profit, by winning the auction and selling it on the trade forum. That is downright disgusting, exploiting PALGN's generosity for profit. The thing is, they think they're doing everyone a favour by selling it to them for slightly below RRP.

Also, my rant wasn't fueled just by the comments on this thread. It's been something that's gone on for a long time.

^ I read that last sentence as "SOCOM Beta thread".
