Dubbed Wii HD, the console is set to be the next-generation follow up to the Wii. According to What They Play, details at this point are incredibly scarce, but HD visuals are assured, as is a greater reliance on digital distribution and backwards compatibility. Hopefully that will mean a rather large slice of extra storage space, then.
The report cites increasing costs in Nintendo's research and development department as an indication that the new console is in the pipeline, with spending having tripled since the release of the Wii in 2006.
Of course, this is all rumour, and its highly unlikely Nintendo will make anything official given the Wii's storming success.
