Wario Land: Shake Dimension details emerge

Wii News | Everyone's favourite treasure loving star returns.
It's been known for a while that Wario is going to star in a new platform game on the Wii called Wario Land: The Shake Dimension, until now not a lot was known about the game. Late yesterday however, Nintendo Europe issued a press release that revealed a few new details.

Wario Land: The Shake Dimension is a 2D platform game which once again sees Wario embark on a quest to find money. In the game a pirate leader known as the Shake King kidnaps Queen Merelda, and Wario sets out to rescue her. While it does seem noble of him to put his life on the line for the sake of the Queen, Wario’s true motives are to obtain the legendary Bottomless Coin Sack, a sack that contains a never-ending flow of riches.

The game will apparently feature five different maps that are ‘full of action-packed stages’. Each stage will have its own challenges to compete, some of which will include reaching the goal under a specific time limit or collecting a certain number of coins. There will also be heaps of hidden treasures to locate that will reward players with special items and help them progress through the game.

Similar to Super Paper Mario, Wario Land: The Shake Dimension is played by holding the Wii remote sideways. Additionally, players have to shake the controller to activate Wario’s special moves such as the Ground Punch, which stuns all enemies on screen and can open up new areas by manipulating your surroundings. When Wario is holding an enemy or money bag, shaking the Wii remote will also cause them to spill their contents (eg. money, health, etc). Finally, at certain points in the game Wario will drive vehicles, which are controlled by tilting the Wii remote.

Wario Land: The Shake Dimension is currently scheduled to be released on September 26th in Europe, with an official Australian release date still pending. We’ll have more on the game as new information becomes available.

Game looks fantastic. The animation is some of the best I've ever seen.

Yeah, it looks great.

Judging by Nintendo's fantastic track record when it comes to giving a sh*t, we'll be lucky to get this early next year then..

Europe gets it September 26, US gets it September 29. We'll get it around then, no doubt as Nintendo's "here have this minor game early so you don't complain about missing out on this big game for 6 months" game.

im always keen for a nintendo 2d platformer. Ive always liked wario games, though i must say i prefer the platformers more then the wario ware series, not that they werent without their charm. Im looking forward to this one but i hope the motion controls are not too over the top.

Shaking down enemies for loot should be lots of fun. Here's an image that has little to do with the subject matter for the hell of it icon_wink.gif
