In the absence of evidence to the contrary, I'm going to avoid the prettiness of the screenshots and assume this plays as tightly as X-Squad on PS2.

Seeing those aliens reminds me of Half-Life. Actually, seeing those aliens reminds me how old Half-Life is and it's amazing how The Conduit looks just like Half-Life graphically.

I just don't get. During the last generation, the Xbox truly blew me away with the visuals from Doom 3 and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, for example. After spending so much time with the Splinter Cell series I still can't believe how Ubisoft pulled it off. It's like Ubisoft really pushed the Xbox to the limits to achieve such a visually impressive game.

The Conduit shows it is possible and shows the possibilities of what can be possible on the Nintendo Wii. I just want to be blown away.

Some of the environments look okay but those character models look terrible!

I never really thought the Wii would be so far behind graphically this generation, but this compared to this proves how wrong I was icon_sad.gif

High Voltage Software have done nothing worth mentioning, and I think this will be pretty mediocre unfortunately.

Metriod Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy look better than this. Wich is sad considering the developer hype for thier games graphics.

I think this is really the wrong direction to go for for the Wii.

They should know you can't compete with the other consoles in realistic graphics, so why try? They could easily compete with games on a stylistic level, if they picked a nice simple art style for this game it could have looked awsome.

I totally agree with benza, if they are going for a console fps sorta thing, they probably should have gone down the path of cell shaded graphics or whatever and more innuative and styalistic gameplay sorta stuff

The Conduit does look very good for Wii, one of the best actually, but the artstyle is sh!thouse which brings it down a notch or two, unlike those two you mentioned. That's all. Art > all

Nice hands.

Call me old fashioned but, I think the enemies look kinda corny and would prefer to fight against human opponents rather than humanoid insect things that look like they came out of a 1950's Godzilla film.

Eh, I really don't mind the look of it all that much, if anything it reminds me of Perfect Dark, there's a weapons that looks similar to the Farsight XR20 there for a start, plus creepy alien enemies...

Besides, it's pushing some effects that are pretty good for the Wii, though as I've said before, in the Snowboarding Game thread, Wii games look more aesthetically pleasing if they don't go for realism, and instead opt for a stylised form of graphics, where comparatively lower poly models and lower resolution textures won't stand out as much. Realism in games requires detail, detail requires processing power and memory, the Wii is limited in both compared to PC, 360 and PS3.

There are heaps of last generation games with a realistic direction that hold up great in this day and age (RE4, MGS3, Riddick). The Wii shouldn't have to resort to parodies as an excuse for poor lighting or blurry textures.

If the gameplay is that much fun it makes me forget about the rather less spectacular art direction, then it should all be good. I can still play UT2000 up until today, just because its damn fun :)
