New Star Wars game for Nintendo systems

Wii News | Based on Clone Wars movie, by the look of it.

It seems that the folks at LucasArts may have been hiding a brand new Star Wars game from us.

According to an advertisement IGN found in the instruction manual for LEGO Indiana Jones, LucasArts are working on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a tie-in with the upcoming animated movie focusing on the events that took place in the Star Wars universe between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith of the same name.

The oddly purple advert shows Anakin and Obi-Wan in a battle ready stance, along with logos for the Wii and DS. There is also a 'fall 2008' release date promised.

In addition, the advertisement has a website for the game, www.clonewarsgame.com - but it doesn't actually go anywhere, redirecting to another Star Wars page.

This is hardly official, but it seems to be solid. We'll keep you posted as to whether or not it actually exists.

I was mildly excited until I read it was based on The Clone Wars, otherwise known as the point where George Lucas fully embraces the Dark Side and makes an entirely CGI movie instead of just 90% CGI like Revenge of the Sith.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of wiimote controls they use for this one, hopefully more than what's available in Force Unleashed.

And for the record, mc, it isn't CGI. It's a 3D animated cartoon, different kettle of fish. And the movie serves as an opening point for the rest of the tv series.
