WiiWare now available in Australia

Wii News | That's a surprise.
Nintendo Australia has announced that the WiiWare service has launched in Australia today. WiiWare is a new game download service, which is accesiblle via the Wii Shop Channel, where users can download a variety of new games in exchange for points. Unlike the Virtual Console the WiiWare service offers original games.

Titles scheduled to launch on the service for launch week include Lost Winds, Star Soldier R, Dr. Mario & Germ Buster, Toki Tori Take 2, TV Show King and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King.

Argh! I want literally 4 of those 6 titles!! Now I have to make the heart rending decision between buying games immediately or buying concert tickets (one of which may never come around again).

To anyone else that'd be an easy choice...

*sigh*

Who am I kidding, Wii can wait when Sigur Ros and Meshuggah are in town.

^ You could argue that there being 4 games you want on Wii will never happen again either. icon_razz.gif

Are there any reviews or even indepth previews of all those titles anywhere on the internet? I'd like to sample some wii ware action, but alas I just don't have many points at the moment (or the time to play them all)..

Still, hooray for Nintendo getting it to us and boo Nintendo for not giving it more fanfare.. Original titles on the Wii is a pretty big deal, especially ones that will (hopefully) utilise the wiimote..

Anyone else disappointed about the lack of Pop? D:

And I'm not sure how good of a price 1500 points for My Life as King is, because I don't remember how much they cost >_< but I do still have 700 points...

Now I just have to hope that games I want aren't released on LIVE Arcade and WiiWare at the same time.

Nice PR Nintendo Australia. Keeping us Australian gamers on our toes.

TBH i think My life as King is pretty good for 1500. ATM i have played it heaps and really enjoying it. I also spent 1700 points on downloadable content which imo was worth it ^^.

^ Does the game feel incomplete without the DLC (as in, how much does it add to the game)? I want to get it, but I'm not paying for half a game and the rest in instalments, not on any console.

Once you play the game you relise that 1500 is very little to pay for this type of game. I found it awesome. So me paying an extra 1700 wii points wasn't such a big problem. Once i did get all the content a whole lot more missions appeared so yeah it does add to the game.

Does the Wii Ware service require an update which would kill the Freeloader? If anybody can answer that I would be very grateful.

.

All Currently available updates for the Wii contain no block for the Freeloader.

A fast PAL conversion? Nintendo Australia?! This does not compute..

Excellent news, no need to buy a U.S Wii points card any more. icon_smile.gif I'm pleasantly surprised.

Wow, I really wasn't expecting us to get this for months. Will be downloading "Lost Winds" for sure and My life as a King sounds interesting too

2000 points is $29.95 or if you go to EB they now charge a $5 premium for the point cards, so $34.95

If I have to delete some Virtual Console games to make room for these, can I keep my save games for them? Or are they deleted as well?

Is it 3000 points it goes up to in the wii shop channel? $45 or something? Can't check, at work.

Yep, $45 for 3000

$15 for 1000, or $75 for 5000.

Save games are stored seperately to the games.

Saves are under 'Wii' in memory section (I think, off the top of my head), whereas the games themselves are under 'Channels'.

Each savegame is about 4 blocks, from the ones I have.
