Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles ships one million units

Wii News | The Wii market loves them zombies.
Capcom have announced via a press release that their Wii exclusive, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, has shipped over one million units worldwide. This makes Umbrella Chronicles the second Capcom Wii game to reach the milestone number, following last year’s Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition. Capcom also mentioned that as of February 29, the Resident Evil franchise has gone on to sell over 34.5 million units globally.

The Umbrella Chronicles is an on-rails shooter which tells the back story of the fall of the Umbrella Corporation. The game features levels from Resident Evil 0, 1, 2 and 3, as well as several never-before-seen locations.

Good news for Capcom. Now, could you please give us a Resident Evil 4 style game?

I didn't like Umbrella Chronicles. I could see why people liked it, but it didn't click for me.

If I remember correctly Capcom went on and on about how the sales of Umbrella Chronicles would dictate their future Wii support.

Now it seems like Zack and Wiki has sold enough to please them, RE:UC has shipped one million units, and RE4:Wii greatly surpassed sales predictions.

Let's hope Capcom have a healthy wad of top tier Wii games in development. A port of a GCN game doesn't count.

Sounds like the time is right to resurrect the long lost Megeman Legends IP, Capcom. Now hop to it!

I hope so... I thought it tanked in the US before Xmas

Capcom has gone from strength to strength these last couple of generations. I think it was last night that I uttered "I love you capcom" as their logo appeared on screen. Sigh. I'm happy they're making cash.

And while Capcom prepares White Man Shoots Worm Infested African Not a Zombies in HD I cant help but think that Resi 4's wii controls will render it something of a backstep. More point and shoot please!

I read from some Capcom financials that Zack and Wiki sold around 300 000 from the USA and Japan. A good amount for a niche game. And that doesn't include Europe.
