Guitar Hero: Aerosmith on the way

Wii News | Free song to celebrate the occasion.
Activision has announced via a press release that Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is on the way to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and PlayStation 2.

To celebrate the occasion, gamers have the opportunity to download Aerosmith's Dream On on the Xbox Live Marketplace from February the 16th to the 18th. The content will also be available for a limited time on the PlayStation Store, with the release date for the PlayStation 3 content still to be confirmed.

Steven Tyler, singer of Aerosmith, says that “Any band that can go from ‘Don’t Want to Miss A Thing’ to the ass-kicking ‘Sweet Emotion’ to the cheekiness of ‘Love in an Elevator,’ to the classic ballad ‘Dream On’ shows why Activision chose us to headline this game based on the diversity of the Aerosmith catalogue. Not only is songwriting a bitch, but then it goes and has puppies.”

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is set for release in June. The first image of the game can be found in our media panel. The tracks on the game are yet to be confirmed. Tthe Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game are in development at Neversoft. The Wii version is being developed by Vicarious Visions and the PS2 version is being developed by Budcat.

damn this game will be awesome....... for aerosmith fans. I love the band and they have great music but i fail to see it win with the younger crowd and non aerosmith fans. i think this is a shot in the foot for guitar hero

Aerosmith on Guitar Hero is boring.

Every single damn song from them that has been put into the game is boring.

I hope to god that the rumour of it not just being Aerosmith, but having it include bands that Aerosmith likes is true, because otherwise, 6/7 Tiers of nothing but Aerosmith and assumably no bonus songs is retarded.

That being said, I'll rent it and pass it in a day like I did with Rocks the 80's.

I thought this was just going to be add-on content for Guitar Hero 3 icon_eek.gif

Surely this has gotta be a joke? I mean only Aerosmith... That's more suited to be a Singstar game than Guitar Hero icon_confused.gif

I wonder how this will sell... I certainly am not a big fan of Aerosmith.

NO NOO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

OK maybe that was an overreacting but seriously this better be download content.

Revolution X minigame or I'm not interested! icon_lol.gif

...Seriously, do they really think Aerosmith still has the fanbase to support something like this? And does anyone else remember a then-eighteen Liv Tyler complaining about how embarassing it was to hear her dad go on about sex all the time?

Apparently theres meant to be a free aerosmith GH3 download to celebrate this moment.

Sadly it is not up yet.

This just gives me another reason to pick up Rock Band when it eventually gets to Australia.

It's sad to see the Guitar Hero series go down this quick cash in route - which will quickly bring the quality of the games down - as it did for Singstar once they started pumping out all those genre discs (although they still managed to sell quite well even with all of their craptacular glory). What's next Guitar Hero: White Snake? icon_eek.gif

GH needs a good set of kickass tunes from all over the rock spectrum to keep the fans interested rather than honing in on one band. This kind of move could prove devastating to the series if it bombs, leaving the door wide open for Rock Band to swoop in.

It is obvious now that Activision and RedOctane are now caught in a lurch without the creative influences of Harmonix, who exhibit true passion behind their craft.

Guitar Hero III had an odd smell to it that I couldn't quite put my finger on, but now with this revelation, it hits me harder than before - the stench of exploitation. Roll on Rock Band - the final nail in the Guitar Hero coffin.

I'm quite impressed that Rock Band has stuck to the idea of putting up three songs for download every week. Now they've just got to work on picking decent songs...

THAT SENTENCE MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL! I've tried to read it about 5 times right now and I always end up cross-eyed before the end.

It's trying to give the idea that Aerosmith has the talent to go across different styles of music.

I think.

Same voice.same characters. No band is epic enough to pull off an entire game like this.

Activision are better off selling all the songs via downloads. I hope this fails miserably, and I hope every other developer learns what SHOULD happen to all spin-offs and cheap cash-ins.

That would be a better choice lol.
Maybe the game could come with voucher for a free mullet at Just Cuts?

Seriously, anbody who plays Don’t Want to Miss A Thing on GH deserves a RROD.

Personally I'd like to see more Metallica songs in the Guitar Hero games, considering there are some pretty cool solo's in many of their songs.

Perhaps they would have been better off releasing Guitar Hero [insert sub genre of music here], for example GH Death Metal, or GH Indie or some crap like that rather than this, they are going to sell bugger all of this.

I'm the biggest Guitar Hero nut that I know (and my mates can attest to this) and even I'm not the least bit interested in this. Activision was the worst thing to have happened to this franchise.

I suppose we can't entirely forget Red Octane either. You've changed man... It's used to be about the music!

Rock Band strives to increase its diversity - Guitar Hero does the opposite.

Seriously though it's a crappy idea and will only sell to hardcore Aerosmith fans and very hardcore Guitar Hero fans. It's a niche market to say the least. You would expect Guitar Hero to try to broaden its appeal but I guess not. Sure, do an Aerosmith DLC pack or something, but releasing an actual physical game based on playing only Aerosmith tracks?

Sounds like inhuman torment to me.

it's not totally aerosmith, there is 30 tracks from aerosmith and an unspecified number of tracks from bands that have supported aerosmith

Off topic - OMG it's Myron!

On topic - I love the GH series, but an entire game for the one band??? Not a chance i'm dropping any money on that. What's next, Guitar Hero: The Veronicas?

Not being a huge music listener (don't have a certain favourite band etc or stick to a genre), I like Guitar Hero for its variety of songs (even though I never heard most of them before I purchased because I was brought up with pop music). I just love to have fun and variety is fun. But Aerosmith... Bet its going to be way bad than "Rock the 80s". I rather listen to Madonna and I'm not even a fan of her music.
