Super Smash Bros. Brawl to see June PAL release?

Wii Rumour | CVG may or may not be hallucinating.
As if the spoilerama of yesterday wasn't enough to make a PAL Smash Bros. fan rush to the nearest importer, the wait to wrap their mitts around Nintendo's prized franchise fighter could be a while longer if ComputerAndVideoGame.com's eyewitness reports are to be believed.

Wisely saving a print-screened image of their findings (viewable via the top right-hand side of the website's news post), CVG has been fortunate enough to observe a curious release date listing of June 1, 2008 for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, over at Nintendo UK's official website. A curiosity that has seemingly been quickly edited by Nintendo to an all-encompassing and vague '2008', as no evidence remains of such a release date on the URL CVG provide as proof, "to view an example for yourself".

While it could be argued that the information CVG originally saw was a mistake on Nintendo's part (considering June 1, 2008 falls on a Sunday, a day not traditionally known for any sort of game release, it may very well have been), such a mid-year release window nevertheless sounds about par for the PAL course -- especially when comprehending the time spent on the unified 'obligatory' localisation Nintendo insist on partaking in for PAL territories, along with the relative proximity to the US's March release date. It goes without saying that we await confirmation on these latest findings from the Big N.

As a notable aside, while our very own Super Smash Bros. Brawl 'Game Info' boxout lists a release date of July 9, 2008 for the game, this is so far only a provisional estimation on the part of our data partners at DVDFeed, and in no way has been officially confirmed by Nintendo.

"obligatory localization"

Don't make me laugh. If that's true why do PS3 and 360 games take all of days to get to Australia from the US. We even get a lot of 360 games BEFORE America.

This is just Nintendo proving once again they don't care about the consumer at all.

Thats exactly right but the game i think about is the 360 game blue dragon. It was 3 dvds long and came out almost the same time as usa got it icon_smile.gif. So there is no excuse for SSBB imo.

This has happened before to Nintendo Europe's website with Mario Galaxy and it turned out to be an error. Being the fanboy I am I have scoured the calendar and looked for possible launch dates using the "Nintendo Australia maximize revenue" method of releasing before a Public Holiday, in the School Holidays (Victorian) or the week before.

A excerpt from my post elsewhere...

I have deduced the following... (there was also dates for late March but since BWii is now in that spot I have removed it)

April 5th (Holidays and June 26th (last Thursday of Term 2), July 3 and 10 (in holidays)
So call me sad but Smash is most likely to be released on those dates, didn't think we would get it any earlier did you?

Well lets hope it's April and not June.
