To be heretofore officially referred to as Rei: Tsukihami no Kamen (roughly translated as Fatal Frame: The Mask of the Lunar Eclipse), Tecmo revealed a two minute long CG trailer of the game to event attendees. Showing off an atypical Fatal Frame female protagonist exploring an atypical Fatal Frame unnerving location, the trailer looks up to the series' spooky snuff. Images taken from the trailer and the press conference itself are viewable courtesy of French website, Wiiz.
According to IGN, other than the trailer itself, no other specifics were made mention of in relation to the narrative or style of gameplay of the new Fatal Frame. However, series producer Keisuke Kikuchi did make mention of key words such as "memory", "moon", and "mask", for fans to keep in mind for the project, along with the acknowledgement that the "image colour" for the game will be yellow.
Most interesting of all however, is the news that Nintendo will be lending quite a hand with the overall production of the title. While it had already been long known that Tecmo and Grasshopper Interactive will be co-developing the game, according to further information garnered by IGN, Nintendo will be handling the publishing and promotion of the project, along with providing support on the development side of things.
With series' regulars Keisuke Kikuchi as producer and Makoto Shibata as director, along with Grasshopper Interactive's Goichi Suda joining Shibata-san in the director's chair, not to mention the all-round heavy support of Nintendo, Fatal Frame: The Mask of the Lunar Eclipse looks set to entertainingly scare upon its confirmed Japanese release date of Summer 2008.
