Nintendo announces European sales data
Wii News | Software and hardware sales figures inside.

To go along with the parent company's quarterly financial report, Nintendo Europe has also released some sales figures. According to GamesIndustry.biz, Nintendo has announced that they have sold through to European consumers 6 million Wii consoles and 20 million DS handhelds. Add to this the almost 300k Wii and million DS consoles sold in Australia, and this means that both the Wii and DS have surpassed their predecessors (the GameCube and Game Boy Advance) total sales in PAL territories already, a remarkable turnround for the company in what has historically been their weakest region.
On the software side of things, it seems that Wii Play is the most popular game, moving 2.3 million copies across Europe. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Super Mario Galaxy both topped 1.3 million units, while Mario Party 8 sold over 1 million copies.
DS software has, as you would expect given the platform is older, been even more successful. Nintendogs has sold over 8 million copies in Europe, while Brain Training shifted 5 million units, and More Brain Training sold 2.3 million copies. Mario Kart DS was also popular, with Nintendo managing to shift 2 million copies, while New Super Mario Bros. managed to sell 3 million units.
