Factor 5 Working on new Wii title

Wii News | Let's hope their motion aint so loco this time.
Factor 5, a studio once synonymous with Nintendo, is again working on a title for the Wii. Amassing a substantial fanbase with their Star Wars based titles on both the Nintendo 64 and the Gamecube, the company showed that it was able to push technology to the limit to fantastic results - Rogue Squadron III on the Gamecube had the highest polygon count of any game on any console of the generation. However, Factor 5's recent outings proved less successful, with a massive backlash against their PS3 game Lair proving that the gaming world does not simply lap up any product that brings with it a celebrated pedigree. Criticised mainly for its interface, based around the PS3's Sixaxis, we can only imagine that the studio has learned at least a little from their first foray into the world of motion controls.

In regards to the core of the new title, Studio President Julian Eggebrecht informed IGN via phone conversation that it will not simply be recycling tech from the successful Gamecube Rogue Squadron games.

There are currently no solid details around what the game is, but rest assured, as soon as there's even the tiniest trickle of information on it we'll let you know.

Its good to see. I remember Factor 5 calling the Wii an "Xbox 1.5" before it was actually released. Pretty poor form for a developer to be slagging off a company that really supported them in my opinion. Then again, that could have been one person's quote taken completely out of context. When that statement was made, I thought that was the final straw between Nintendo and Factor 5's relationship. Glad I was wrong.

Now I hope they can stick it to the 3D Artists from other Developers who make the cheap-looking N64-Like visuals in these Casual Titles by making the game physically look better than Rogue Leader.

First to point out "Rouge Squadron". Though I'm sure a game about a team of jet pilots consisting of sexy&classy ladies would be pretty rad, this ain't it. icon_razz.gif

Next game more like Rogue Squadron 1 and a lot less like 3, ta...

Oh joy, more boring games coming up.

I've yet to play a game by Factor 5 that's more than a 5 minute distraction. Why do these people keep on getting media attention?

Because they make games with pretty pictures in them which is about all the majority of people seem to care about. The only reason Factor 5 don't control the gaming World is they have tyet to show boobs on a tv screen, give it time though, give it time.

Great news, everyone though has been crazy with the pilotwings rumour. As a star wars fan i wouldn't mind a compilation of RS1,2 and 3 (with 1 being remade and the on foot missions in 3 scrapped or improved significantly as well as online and co-op). Maybe even including the Battle for Naboo (such an underrated game....it had platinum medals for christ's sake!).
