Revenant Wings takes place approximately one year after the events of the PlayStation 2 game Final Fantasy XII. Embarking on a new journey in the land of Ivalice, players will meet new characters, explore uncharted locations and see the return of previous heroes Vaan, Penelo, Fran and Balthier.
A modified version of the Gambit system from Final Fantasy XII will allow for complete control over all of the game's battles – automated attack sequences will be unleashed in real time through the use of the DS touch screen and stylus.
The soundtrack for Revenant Wings will be overseen by the composer of Final Fantasy XII. In addition, the developers are promising more summons than in any other Final Fantasy title and that the game will 'push the capabilities of the Nintendo DS'.
'I am delighted that we are providing fans with another opportunity to enjoy the beautiful world of Ivalice with Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings,' Square Enix President and CEO John Yamamoto said. 'With the same high-production values including movies and music, this is a stunning sequel that expands upon the original game and that makes full use of the Nintendo DS hardware.'
