TGS 07: Three Kingdom Hearts titles on the way

DS News | All of them coming to handhelds.
1up is reporting that Square Enix has three Kingdom Hearts titles in the making.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep will be coming to the PSP and is a single player adventure, the game will be similar to the first two Kingdom Hearts titles on the PlayStation 2 but won't be a direct sequel.

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days for the Nintendo DS features Roxas from Kingdom Hearts II, the game will include support for four players and will be in full 3D. Finally, Kingdom Hearts: Coded is a mobile game which stars the cast from the first Kingdom Hearts game, it is set between the first and the second PlayStation 2 game.

Pass, pass and pass.

Mobiles? Ugh...

Kingdom Hearts 3 is coming, it's just a matter of where...

Ever since Squenix took the new Dragon Quest to the DS of all places, I'm not about to call it for the PS3 just yet. I really, really hope it stays with Sony but the landscape has changed some since the Nintendo took a chainsaw to the status quo. A chainsaw for all the family to enjoy!

strange name for the DS-iteration

But the first 2 were great, so i'll give the DS one a look see when it comes closer to release (& when some more solid info is revealed)

But mobiles?
meh

I hate it when they split games over multiple consoles with different stories...sigh must get a PSP now.

That is new and exciting news.
Disappointment with the mobile game. Those announcements kill me inside, just like Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis. If they released them here and compatible with more phones then that'd be best and fairest.

I want them all! icon_biggrin.gif Too bad about the mobile one though, not likely that we'll see a release for that outside Japan. Other than that, more KH can only be a good thing.

And might I just say Capoeira (and I've said this many times), there is no Kingdom Hearts 3. It has been officially stated that the series ended with 2, and that they will be branching off into a new, yet related, series on PS3. Just look at the secret trailer on the final mix version (can be found on the internet). And they've also said that they're not going to do much work on it until they finish FFXIII.

Nice, looking forward to seeing how the DS one turns out.

I'd get 2 outta 3, mobile phone gaming seems limited to mostly Japan market.

Admeister, can I have a link to that official statement?

The mobile game doesn’t even deserve recognition. Wasn’t Chain of Memories the game to bridge the gap between 1 and 2? Ah, that’s right, we still don’t know what happened to Sora on his way to Castle Oblivion! I guess those lost 5 minutes searching for Pluto at the crossroads could make a good game... But then again, it’s not aimed at gamers outside Japan, so Squeenix don’t really give a **** what we think, as usual. Keep your mobile game and the 20 add-ons that are sure to follow.

Right now, the PSP version seems the most interesting, but I'll still check out the DS one too. Apparently Axel will be the other controllable character? Cool! I’m still pretty skeptical though, as CoM wasn’t all that good, really.

I can't find the original article that I read, but this gives similar information.

The bit about not working on KH until FFXIII is done is below it:

However, he did mention that Kingdom Hearts 3 is on hold until Square Enix is completely finished with Final Fantasy XIII, which is probably for the best.

I understand that Nomura has his hands full right now, what I was referring to was the platform you said it was confirmed for. Nowhere has it been stated that PS3 is the platform of choice. You made it sound as if it was official, which it’s not.

I too am disappointed about the focus on mobile phone games. Japanese developers seem to go for this market qute a lot. Namco also have a number of mobile titles.

For the record here is the list of SE mobile phone games:

Dragon Quest Mobile (mobile)
Ganmoba Comics (mobile)
Dirge of Cerberus Lost Episode (mobile)
Before Crisis Final Fantasy VII (mobile)
Monotone (mobile)
Tobal M (mobile)
Makai Toushi Saga (mobile)
Chocobo de Mobile (mobile)

and then Kingdom Hearts.

The PSP one makes me drooooooool. Makes me even more glad I bought a slim the other day!!

The DS one doesn't interest me much, and I sold my DS anyway so there's that.

As for the mobile... the game is not interesting but this really annoys me. I mean, surely America/Europe combined makes up a large number of Square's sales, so I do not see why they continually release games on a system about 0.001% of American's have... You'd think you'd put games like Before Crisis on the system that would generate the most sales... but maybe they had some kind of deal drawn behind doors. Who knows.

I didnt mean Japan was small, I merely meant America was also large icon_razz.gif

And Americans have mobile phones, but most of them can't play that software. Can your phone? icon_razz.gif
