Ultimate Mortal Kombat heads to DS

DS News | A remake of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.
Continuing with Midway related announcements, comes word that DS owners can expect Mortal Kombat to be slashing its way to the console in November this year.

Despite being called Ultimate Mortal Kombat, the game is in fact a remake of the arcade game Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and will feature wireless local and online play as well as the popular Puzzle Kombat mini-game.

First screens can be found in the media panel below.

Yay? Nah. The 2D MK are atrocious, I'll just cotinually press punch until I win.

More interested in having Puzzle Kombat on a portable than UMK3.

Curious that in the trailer they referred to Puzzle Kombat as MK Puzzle Fighter.

I reckon it would be cool if they included Chess Kombat in the package as well. The way the package is at the moment (while it has a lot of features packed) it just needs something else different then just puzzle kombat. I think chess would round it up nicely.

Good luck with that, UMK3 is tough. I can't beat the xbla version.

IMO I though MK was crap when it went 3D, MK4 sucked balls and so did the rest relative to it's 2d predecessors. Hmm press punch 'till you win man you must have some friends who are pretty crap at MK.

^lol yeah that punch till you win quip was very random, and essentially bs.

I disagree about mk4, thought it was tight on the 64 but mk2 and mk3 to a lesser extent were the pinnacles. This should be a worthy addition to the ds lineup, i hope they port it over good though, they've no excuse to f it up, all the buttons are accounted for and the ds can pull of mk:u graphics with ease.

Let's not hope it compares to the gba mk games, by all accounts they were the suxors.

Well prefering Street Fighter, MK is too loose, and yes you just keep taping the punch (light I think) and no one can hit you unless you are hit with a projectile move.

Thats why its impossible Slapshakle, the people who actually have beaten the game or are the best players online always use the projectile players and cheap shot you. Stupid Sub Zero and co. icon_razz.gif

The game looks interesting though. Im planning on getting my fourth DS soon so ill certainly consider picking it up when the price looks right.

What exactly happned to your other 3!?!?! icon_cry.gif

The gameplay styles were vastly different between the likes of Mortal Kombat and Streetfighter. Can't really compare them in that respect.

Should be interesting to see how well UMK3 is pulled off on the DS though.

That doesn't work well in the 2D versions, The brutal AI (or lack of?) Always ends up kicking your ass with cheap combos if you try to do that. SF can be damn cheap too, people who use Ryu / Ken that sit back and Hadouken over and over. The E. Honda slap thing is a pain in the ass too.

This game is coming to the DS? I don't really have much hopes for it. I loved the series but I don't think it runs that well on the Nintendo systems. I mean, Mortal Kombat on the GBA was pretty much Mortal Kombat Trilogy but it runs so crappy. The gameplay and graphics feel not right on the system. I dont think it will run that well on the DS either. It just cant replicate the goodness like on the the Playstation. I mean, look at the difference between Mortal Kombat Trilogy on the PS1 and the N64. It feels wrong.

Does anyone know if they are going to be fully voiced this time round? Have a crisper sound? Or anything else other than Puzzle Kombat?

Needs more than UKM3 and a lame Tetris clone. I hope they remove the pic of UKM3 on the top screen while fighting, it looks cheap.
