Sky Blue DS Lite heading for Australia?

DS Rumour | ...And three became four.
Despite making no official announcement, an image of a Sky Blue (or "lite" blue) coloured DS Lite has mysteriously appeared in Nintendo Australia's image library. After a little searching around, it has also been found that the new colour will supposedly launch on July 19th this year, just a few weeks after the release of More Brain Training from Dr. Kawashima Brain Training: How old is your Brain? and the highly anticipated Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl.

The image has surfaced just days after Nintendo Australia revealed that over half a million DS units had been snapped up by Australian consumers. It isn't unreasonable to believe that this could justify the release of a fourth colour, but for the time being, keep this one marked as rumour. We'll report back once an official announcement has been made.

I imported an Ice Blue DS Lite from Lik-Sang last year and I completly love it.

I really hope it's not true that it'll be for sale here, because then mine won't be so special anymore!

eviladrian, your DS looks fantastic!

That is some awesome vinyl work. As far as the chrome goes, it's a great look on paper, but fingerprints would make it look like sh*t, I bet!

As far as import DS Lites go interms of colour, you've got Enamel Navy and Ice Blue.

If you go to the top floor of Market City in Sydney, there's a dude with a stand there who'll vinyl graphic any of your portable techno items, the finish is pretty good, and there's a big range of patterns, but no Sonic, Mario or other game stuff.

and it certainly makes a change from the black, plus it doesn't show fingerprints!
I might pick up a DS Lite Black soon (for the second time) but i hate the fingerprints too so this sounds right up my alley.

How much does this dude charge? And does his work void the warranty on the DS.

Awesome design btw!!!

It was $88, which is expensive for what is essentially a big sticker, but the job is really well done with no bubbles or rough edges. I think it cost more for the black because they have to put an extra layer for the background, some designs will go on the pink or white versions with a clear decal.

As for warranty, I guess you can pull the sticker off if you need to, it does cover the battery hole, but who goes around with a spare DS battery?

The designs are mostly animes and disney characters, but there were a few that I liked, they have a big folder with the designs you can look through.

I haven't been too impressed with the jap special editions, which are just the normal colours with pokemon or mario screen-printed on them.
For really unique stuff, you have to get modding

Im sure that they'd cut around the battery port if you'd ask them right? For ease of removal.

If you ever have trouble with sticky residue after taking off stickers, be sure to grab a product called Desolve It. Its a citrus based natural product that you put into surfaces that have that nasty residue crap on them, let it sit for a minute and then wipe it off! Its a god send for removing residue crap on jewel cases etc.. when taking the price tags off.

Yeah it seems a bit pricey but i may as well check it out cos they're could well be some worthwhile designs for that price.

Cheers again!
