New Dragon Quest IX screenshots

DS News | Go you good thing!
The successful DS ball keeps on rolling, and as shown from the latest screenshots provided by Square Enix for the upcoming Dragon Quest IX, the DS is certainly one powerful machine. Naturally, the four screenshots look simply gorgeous and are certainly worth a look.

It was also recently announced that Dragon Quest IX would retain the series’ popular turn-based gameplay, despite earlier signs suggesting the game would be an action-RPG. Enemies will remain visible on screen and contact will commence battle, which from there the traditional turn-based structure will remain identical to previous Dragon Quest titles. Additionally, the game will also allow players to customise the main character in a number of ways, including weight, height, face, hair and clothing.

Chances are we’ll see more of Dragon Quest IX at the Square Enix Party held from May 12 to May 13. Stay tuned.

Looks good. This may be the first Dragon Quest game I get, depending on reviews.

That is looking really nice for a DS game. It too will probably be my first Dragon quest game unless steal my brothers PS2 and play 8 but the chance of that happening is slim to none icon_lol.gif

I'm really excited about this game. Dragon Quest VIII is in my top 10, so there is a lot of pressure on this little gem.

I wonder what features will be carried over from VIII. I'm relieved that it is a turn-based battle system, I'm one of the few that still love that system.

The game is looking stunning too, that's a nice bonus.

They look really good for a DS game.

But only if they remade dragon warrior cause that GBC game rocked.

I'm with you on the turn based thing. It gets frustrating sometimes, but once you out a decent turn based rpg down, you want to go back for more after a while. I am getting through popolocrois at the moment and its an absolute classic with the turn based system.

(action RPGs) and then Turn-Based ftw!!!

Still can't believe this game is going to be on a handheld.......

I can't believe you can actually see the characters in the battle screen, I've played every DQ/DW title bar the eighth installment and this seems like a new addition to me. Hopefully they don't mess around and put in a retarded ATB system and keep it true turn-based (though with all the great AI options of the previous titles).

Holy **** stiffy. May as well start a clan already, who's in!? I've been waiting for a game like this and it just happens to be a Dragon Quest game. Ah screw it. I can live with that.
